A Band Called Quinn
A Band Called Quinn are an electronic indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. Founding members Bal Cooke (drummer/producer) and Louise Quinn (singer/ songwriter) met whilst working for a performance art company in Glasgow. Other long-term members are Robert Henderson (keyboards/ trumpet) and Steven Westwater (bass). Previous line ups included Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand). A Band Called Quinn's track DIY opened the sixth episode of Season 1 of The Royals (TV series) on E!. The series was created by Mark Schwahn and stars Elizabeth Hurley and Joan Collins. In 2012, with investment from Creative Scotland, A Band Called Quinn devised the critically acclaimed multimedia show ''Biding Time (remix)'' with theatre director Ben Harrison, Co-Artistic Director of Scottish theatre company Grid Iron. Ian Rankin
Sir Ian James Rankin (born 28 April 1960) is a Scottish crime writer and philanthropist, best known for his Inspector Rebus novels. Early life Rankin was born in Cardenden, Fife. His father, James, owned a grocery shop, and his mother, Isobel, worked in a school canteen. He was educated at Beath High School, Cowdenbeath. Neither of his parents were great readers, but Rankin enjoyed comics like ''the Beano'', ''the Dandy'', ''Superman'' and ''Batman'', later progressing to books borrowed from the library. Rankin was the first of his family to go to university. His parents were horrified when he chose to study literature, as they had expected him to study for a trade. Stephen Fry

BBC Three

''Lip Service'' is a British television drama portraying the lives of a group of lesbian women living in Glasgow, Scotland. Production on the show, which stars Laura Fraser, Ruta Gedmintas and Fiona Button, began in summer 2009 in Glasgow. The show debuted on BBC Three on 12 October 2010. David Hugh Mackenzie (born 10 May 1966) is a Scottish film director and co-founder of the Glasgow-based production company Sigma Films. Penny Woolcock
Penny Woolcock (born 1 January 1950) is an Argentine filmmaker, opera director, and screenwriter. Early life Penny Woolcock was born in Argentina and raised in a British community. In 1967, she performed in a play called "Liberty and other Intoxications", which was about dictatorship in Argentina; she was briefly arrested as a result. Her parents wanted to send her to Europe for safety; instead she fled to Spain with a man from the theatre group and had a baby in Barcelona. In 1970, she moved to England as a single mother.
