AUDI E5
The AUDI E5 is a Battery electric vehicle, battery electric compact executive car produced by SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC Audi under the China-only AUDI marque owned by Audi. It is the first vehicle co-developed between Chinese car manufacturer SAIC Motor and Audi. The car does not feature the four rings logo and the AUDI name is stylised in capitals, as it is considered a distinct brand for the Chinese market. The AUDI E5 is developed based on the SAIC Motor's IM L6, sharing the electric motor, battery, electric control system, and the same platform, as part of the collaboration between Audi and SAIC. The E5 was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025 following the E concept being first shown at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2024, demonstrating a new design direction based on the "Advanced Digitized Platform". SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., formerly known as Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. is an automobile manufacturing company headquartered in Anting, Shanghai, China and a joint venture between SAIC Motor and Volkswagen Group. It was founded in 1984 and produces cars under the Volkswagen, Škoda and Audi marques. It is the second automobile manufacturing joint venture in China after American Motors and the first German car manufacturer to enter China. The joint venture is made up of equity from SAIC Motor (50%), Volkswagen AG (40%), Volkswagen (China) Invest (10%), with a fixed-term venture for 45 years up until 2030.
