ASEAN U-23 Championship
The ASEAN U-23 Championship (formerly AFF U-23 Championship) is an international football competition contested by the national under-23 teams of the member nations of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The inaugural edition was held in 2005. Background In 2005, the first edition was held in Bangkok, Thailand as the AFF U-23 Youth Championship. A second edition of the tournament was set to take place in Palembang, Indonesia between 16 and 26 July 2011 but was cancelled due to the main stadium of Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, which was to be used for the tournament, still being under renovation. In 2019, the tournament was then revived as the AFF U-22 Youth Championship with Phnom Penh, Cambodia as the host where it also served as a preparatory tournament for the Southeast Asian Games and AFC U-23 Asian Cup football tournament. 2022 AFF U-23 Youth Championship
The 2022 AFF U-23 Championship was the 3rd edition of the AFF U-23 Championship, organised by ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The tournament was held from 14 to 26 February in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Indonesia were the defending champions, having won the 2019 edition. The tournament was held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Indonesia and Myanmar withdrew from the tournament after several of their players tested positive for COVID-19. Vietnam won the tournament for the first time after beating Thailand 1–0 in the final. Qualified teams There was no qualification, and all entrants advanced to the final tournament. Charnwit Polcheewin () is a Thai football coach. Managerial career In club level, he brought Thai Farmers Bank to two consecutive AFC Champions League (then Asian Club Championship) titles in 1993–94 and 1994–95. He coached Thailand during their successful campaign in the 2005 SEA Games. He resigned from the post on 20 February 2007 to coach Vietnamese club Đồng Tháp. However, as the transfer did not go through, he return to his post as the Thai national team coach. He was confirmed in this position in April 2007 after the election of the new FAT President and the appointment of a new executive committee. Quan Văn Chuẩn (born 7 January 2001) is a Vietnamese professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for V.League 1 club Hà Nội and the Vietnam national under-23 team. Club career Quan Văn Chuẩn was associated with the Hanoi academy from the age of ten.
