AR Emerging Awards
The AR Emerging Awards, previously known as the AR Emerging Architecture Awards, is an annual international prize that "grants early recognition to young designers and celebrates the architectural stars of tomorrow." Founded in 1999 by the British architectural magazine The Architectural Review, the award includes a £5,000 prize and features the winner in the pages of the printed magazine. Carla Juaçaba
Carla Juaçaba (born 1976) is a Brazil, Brazilian architect. In 2013, she won the inaugural arcVision Prize for Women in Architecture. In 2018, she became the first Brazilian architect to win the AR Emerging Awards. Early life and education Juaçaba was born in Rio de Janeiro. She received a bachelor's degree in architecture and urbanism from Universidade Santa Úrsula and pursued postgraduate studies in structure at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, where she later became a lecturer. Frida Escobedo
Frida Escobedo (born 1979) is a Mexican architect. She specifically designs and restores urban spaces: housing, community centers, art venues, and hotels. When creating, Escobedo illustrates her works within a general theme of time, not in a historical context but rather in a social context. She founded her own architectural and Design Studio in 2006 which is located in Mexico City. Escobedo is known for creating temporary and interactive works which can accommodate multiple intended purposes. In 2018, she became the youngest architect to work on the Serpentine Pavilion, and the second woman to be invited after Zaha Hadid designed the first in 2000.
