"AP" is a song by American rapper Pop Smoke. It was released on February 26, 2021, through Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. It is the lead single from the Boogie (2021 film)#Music, ''Boogie'' soundtrack, in which Pop Smoke stars. Background and release The song first originated as a collaboration with Rich the Kid, who previewed the song in April 2020 when it was called "Nikes". On February 25, 2021, Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records announced the song would be the lead single from the ''Boogie (2021 film), Boogie'' soundtrack. Bashar Barakah Jackson (July 20, 1999 – February 19, 2020), known professionally as Pop Smoke, was an American rapper. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, he rose to fame with the release of his 2019 singles "Welcome to the Party (Pop Smoke song), Welcome to the Party" and "Dior (song), Dior". He frequently collaborated with UK drill artists and producers, who employed more minimal and aggressive instrumentation than American drill music, drill artists from Chicago, reintroducing the sound as Brooklyn drill.
