He served as the tenth Prime Minister of Tuvalu from 2006 to 2010, and was returned as a member of parliament in the 2010 Tuvaluan general election. He was re-elected to parliament in the 2015 Tuvaluan general election. On 5 October 2016 Chief Justice Sweeney of the High Court of Tuvalu declared that Ielemia’s parliamentary seat was vacant as he was not qualified to be a member of parliament, as the consequence of the short time the opposition MP served time in jail following his conviction on 6 May 2016 in the Magistrate’s Court of charges of abuse of office during the final year of his term as Prime Minister (August 2006 to September 2010). A triple NRL premiership winner with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Penrith Panthers, he previously played for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the National Rugby League. 	Apisai Naevo Ratu Apisai D. Naevo (died 2008) was a Fijian Chief and political leader. As Tui Nawaka, he was the paramount chief of the vanua of Nawaka, Nadi. He had two sons, Apenisa Naevo and Semisi Naevo, both of whom played rugby for Fiji. A retired school teacher, he was a member of the Ba Provincial Council and various boards. 	Apisai Naikatini Apisai Namata Naikatini (born April 4, 1985) is a Fijian rugby union footballer. He plays lock and blindside flank for Fiji and Old Glory DC of Major League Rugby (MLR) in the United States. Early life Naikatini attended the prestigious Marist Brothers High School and Natabua High School in Fiji, and Wanganui City College while playing in New Zealand. 	Apisai Tora Mohammad Apisai Vuniyayawa Tora (January 5, 1934 – August 6, 2020) was a Fijian politician, soldier, and trade unionist. As a labour leader, he was a fighter for dock workers. As a soldier, he served in Malaya and later served as President of the Ex-Servicemen's League. Tora held a variety of political positions, the last being as a Senator from 2001 to 2006. A convert to Islam, he represented a small minority ( numbered in the hundreds) in both the indigenous Fijian and Muslim communities, the great majority of Muslims being Indo-Fijian. On 27 September 2005, he was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment for offenses related to the Fiji coup of 2000. Political career Tora had a reputation in Fiji for being something of a chameleon, having championed both Fijian ethnic nationalism and multiculturalism at different times.
