AO Racing
Autumn Oaks Racing, doing business as AO Racing, is an American sports car racing team that currently competes in the Le Mans Prototype, LMP2 and the Group GT3, GTD Pro classes of the IMSA SportsCar Championship and in Le Mans Prototype, LMP2 in the European Le Mans Series. The team was founded in 2022 by P. J. Hyett and Gunnar Jeannette. The team won the 2024 IMSA SportsCar Championship in the Group GT3, GTD Pro class with driver Laurin Heinrich. History AO Racing was founded in 2022 by GitHub co-founder and technology entrepreneur P. J. Hyett, and American race car driver Gunnar Jeannette. Hyett and Jeannette met through vintage racing and became friends. In September of 2022, they made the decision to form an auto racing team to compete in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Sebastian "Seb" Priaulx (born 18 January 2001) is a British racing driver who competes for Dempsey-Proton Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Career Early career Priaulx was introduced to motorsports at a karting track near Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours while his father, Andy, was testing there. At the age of 8, he began competing in karts, before progressing to cars in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series at the end of 2015. He cited his early aspirations as reaching Formula 1, but began in the Ginetta ladder in lieu of Formula 4 due to its value for money. In 2016, he graduated to the Ginetta Junior Championship at large, driving for JHR Developments. Alex Quinn (racing Driver)
Alex Quinn (born 29 December 2000) is a British racing driver. He currently competes in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship driving the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports LMP2 car. Quinn is the current rookie cup champion in the Formula Renault Eurocup. Early career Karting Born in Truro and based near Camelford, Quinn started his karting career in 2011. He competed in multiple championships such as the Super 1 National Rotax Mini Max Championship and won multiple national karting championships. Paul-Loup Chatin (born 19 October 1991) is a professional racing driver from France who currently competes in the European Le Mans Series with IDEC Sport. He won the European Le Mans Series LMP2 class title in 2014 and 2019. Career Karting Born in Dourdan, Chatin began his karting career in 2006 at the age of 14, progressing to the KF2 category by 2008. Matthew Chase Brabham (born 25 February 1994) is an Australian- American racing driver. He competes full-time in Indy Lights, driving the No. 83 for Andretti Autosport. 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship
The 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship) is the 53rd racing season sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association, which traces its lineage back to the 1971 IMSA GT Championship. It is also the tenth season of the IMSA SportsCar Championship since the merger between the American Le Mans Series and the Rolex Sports Car Series in 2014, and the eighth under the sponsorship of WeatherTech. The 2023 season marks an overhaul season for the championship, with a change in class structure and a new race on the season calendar at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Group GT3, known technically as Cup Grand Touring Cars and commonly referred to as simply GT3, is a set of regulations maintained by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) for grand tourer racing cars designed for use in various auto racing series throughout the world. The GT3 category was initially created in 2005 by the SRO Group as a third rung in the ladder of grand touring motorsport, below the Group GT1 and Group GT2 categories which were utilized in the SRO's FIA GT Championship, and launched its own series in 2006 called the FIA GT3 European Championship. Le Mans Prototype
A Le Mans Prototype (LMP) is the type of sports prototype race car used in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA SportsCar Championship, European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series. Le Mans Prototypes were created by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). The technical requirements for an LMP include bodywork covering all mechanical elements of the car. Currently, there are three classes within Le Mans Prototypes, designated LMP1, LMP2, and LMP3. While not as fast as open-wheel Formula One cars around a track, LMP1s were the fastest closed-wheel racing cars used in circuit racing.
