AOID
''AOID'' is the debut album by American indie rock band Ratboys. It was released on 9 June 2015 on Topshelf Records. Background Some songs on the album ("Charles Bernstein," "Our Mortician’s Daughter," "Postman Song") had been part of Ratboys' live shows since mid-2012. The oldest song on the album is "Postman Song", which Steiner wrote in 2007, but the majority were written in 2012–2013. The album was recorded at the Owlery in Chicago at the end of 2014. Steiner recorded her vocals late at night to minimize noise from the shared space they recorded in. Mike Politowicz, bassist and vocalist for Dowsing, passed the recordings to Topshelf Records, who released the album on LP, CD and cassette in 2015. Critical reception CMJ and BrooklynVegan reviewed the album positively. ''GoldFlakePaint'' called the album a "gleaming, joyous, raucous display of melodic indie-rock," and included it on their "Albums of the year" list in 2015. Ratboys are an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2010 by Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan. The band consists of Julia Steiner (guitar, vocals), Dave Sagan (guitar), Marcus Nuccio (drums) and Sean Neumann (bass, vocals). Founded by songwriters Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan during their time studying at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, the band relocated back to Sagan's hometown of Chicago in 2015 and released its debut album ''AOID'' that same year on Topshelf Records. Neumann joined the band as full-time member in 2016 and Nuccio joined shortly thereafter in 2017. Dowsing is an American emo band from Chicago. History Dowsing began in 2011 with the release of an EP titled ''All I Could Find Was You''. They followed that release with a 7-inch split with Parker via Count Your Lucky Stars. In 2012, Dowsing released their first studio album titled ''It's Still Pretty Terrible'' via Count Your Lucky Stars. The following year they released their second studio album titled ''I Don't Even Care Anymore''. The album was recording at Atlas Studios at the Stayahead House from February 2, 2013 to February 10, 2013. Count Your Lucky Stars released a music video for the title track.
