ANZAC Girls
''ANZAC Girls'' is an Australian television drama series that first screened on ABC1 on 10 August 2014. The six-part series tells the rarely told true stories of the nurses serving with the Australian Army Nursing Service at Alexandria, Lemnos, and the Western Front (World War I), Western Front during the First World War. The series is based on Peter Rees' book ''The Other ANZACs'' as well as diaries, letters, photographs and historical documents. The series was written by Felicity Packard and Niki Aken, produced by Screentime, and filmed in South Australia. The Western Front was one of the main Theatre (warfare), theatres of war during World War I. Charles Anthony Martin Mayer is an English actor. He has been living and working in Australia since 2012. Early life and education Charles Anthony Martin Mayer was born in South Tidworth, Hampshire, England. In 1992 he entered Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, from where he was commissioned into the Welsh Guards. Thomas Henry Fiaschi (Italian: Tommaso Enrico Fiaschi; 31 May 1853 – 17 April 1927) was an Italian-Australian surgeon. He served with both Italian and Australian armed forces, seeing active service as a military surgeon in the First Italo-Ethiopian War, the Second Boer War, and World War I. Norval Henry "Pat" Dooley (3 October 1893 – 1978) was an Australian Army officer and leading solicitor. His service at Gallipoli and in France, and his courtship of nurse Olive Haynes was portrayed in the 2014 ABC Television miniseries ''ANZAC Girls''. Alys Appleford, ( Ross King; 5 August 1887 – 17 August 1968), known as Alice Ross-King, was an Australian civilian and military nurse who took part in both World Wars. She has been described as Australia's most decorated woman. Grace Wilson
Grace Margaret Wilson (25 June 1879 – 12 January 1957) was a high-ranked nurse in the Australian Army during World War I and the first years of World War II. Wilson was born in Brisbane, and completed her initial training as a nurse in 1908. After the outbreak of World War I she joined the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) and subsequently transferred to the First Australian Imperial Force. From 1915 until 1919 she was the principal matron of the 3rd Australian General Hospital. She served as the temporary matron-in-chief in the AIF Headquarters, London from late 1917 until early 1918.
