The AMSG Fútbol Club is a semi-professional American soccer team based in Huntington Beach, California. Founded in 2017, the team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The club also runs a second team, academy and women's team under the same name in the United Premier Soccer League, USL Academy, and USL W leagues, respectively. Semi-professional sports are sports in which athletes are not participating on a full-time basis, but still receive some payment. Semi-professionals are not amateur because they receive regular payment from their team, but generally at a considerably lower rate than a full-time professional athlete. As a result, semi-professional players frequently have (or seek) full-time employment elsewhere. A semi-pro player or team could also be one that represents a place of employment that only the employees are allowed to play on. In this case, it is considered semi-pro because their employer pays them, but for their regular job, not for playing on the company's team. The United Soccer League (USL) is an organizer of various professional and amateur soccer leagues in the United States league system. The USL W League (USLW) is a Women's association football, women's soccer league in the United States. It began play in May 2022 and follows the USL W-League (1995–2015), USL W-League, a similar league that existed from 1995 to 2015. It is currently not sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, US Soccer Federation, meaning that it does not have a position in the United States soccer league system#Women's leagues, US soccer pyramid. The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is an American for-profit soccer league that was founded in Santa Ana in Southern California, with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, and recently Canada and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles, but expanded to include 400 teams from 41 states as of the 2022 season.
