The Workers' Communist Party ( no, Arbeidernes Kommunistparti, AKP) was a Norwegian communist party (1973–2007). AKP was a Maoist party and one of two communist parties in Norway; the other was the older Communist Party of Norway which had remained pro-Soviet. The relationship between the two parties was characterized by strong hostility. AKP was founded in 1973, as ''Arbeidernes Kommunistparti (marxist-leninistene)''. It did not participate directly in elections, but members had "activity duty", meaning that they were to work for the party's goals – passive members were not accepted. The precise number of its members is unknown. On 22 February 2006, the party opened some of its archives to the public, in a move the party argued was to hit out at all the rumours surrounding the party. ''Gnist'' (Spark) is a Norwegian quarterly marxist periodical published by the left-wing party Red. The magazine was started with the name ''Røde Fane'' (''Red Banner'') in 1969. Oktober Forlag
Forlaget Oktober is a Norwegian publishing house. Oktober focuses on Norwegian contemporary fiction. In addition, they publish a small selection of non-fiction, poetry, and translated fiction. Annually they release around 50 new titles, and around 150 Norwegian authors are attached to the publishing house. It was established in 1970 by members of SUF (m-l), the former youth league of the Socialist People's Party and later youth league of the Workers' Communist Party. It has been owned by Aschehoug since 1992, and its chief executive officer is Geir Berdahl. The publishing house formerly also used to run a book retailer chain called "Oktober Bokhandel". ''Klassekampen'' ( en, The Class Struggle) is a Norwegian daily newspaper. It describes itself as "the newspaper of the Left." The paper's net circulation is 34,000 (2021), and it has around 111,000 daily readers on paper (160,000 on Saturdays). This makes it the third largest Norwegian print newspaper, based on readership. Chief editor from 2018 is Mari Skurdal. The paper was initially a part of the young marxist-leninist (maoist) movement in Norway. It started out in early 1969 as a monthly periodical published by "a group of marxist-leninists" with Anders M. Andersen as the first editor. It promoted the positions of the Workers' Communist Party (AKP; founded 1973) and its predecessors. ''Klassekampen'' became a weekly in January 1973, a bi-weekly in January 1976 and finally a daily newspaper as of April 1977. It was the official organ of the AKP until April 1991.
