AIIMS, Delhi
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS New Delhi), is a public medical research university and hospital in New Delhi, India. The institute is governed by the AIIMS Act, 1956 and operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. History The idea of AIIMS arose in 1946 by the prominent scientist Dr. Stotrom Das, after a recommendation by the Health Survey of the Government of India. From then to the establishment and development of AIIMS (New Delhi) over the ensuing years, several illustrious individuals played their part in bringing the idea to fruition. Originally proposed by the then Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru for establishment in Calcutta, it was established in New Delhi following the refusal of Chief Minister of West Bengal Bidhan Chandra Roy. Bhupinder Singh Hooda
Bhupinder Singh Hooda (born 15 September 1947) is an Indian National Congress politician, who has served as the Chief Minister of Haryana from 2005 to 2014. He was the Leader of the Opposition in Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2019 to 2024. When he began a second term in October 2009 after leading the Congress to an election victory, it was the first time since 1972 that a Haryana electorate returned a ruling party back to power. Hooda is also a Member of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana. National Medical Library
National Medical Library is a medical library established on 1 April 1966 by the Government of India. It is located in Ansari Nagar, New Delhi. It aims to provide library and information services to the health science professionals in India. It functions under the administrative control of the Directorate General of Health Services. It has 3.6 lakh volumes of books, reports, bound volume of journals and other literature. It subscribes around 2000 periodicals annually. The library has good collection of 19th century literature. Books are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification. It became the Indian focal point of HELLIS Network under World Health Organization in 1982. It has been organizing training programmes for medical/health science librarians since 1980. Safdarjung Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital, and the largest central government hospital in India if measured by bed strength. Bhalchandra Babaji Dikshit (7 September 1902 - 1977) was an Indian physician and pharmacologist. He was the first director of AIIMS, New Delhi.
