AFL Fiji
The sport of Australian rules football has been played in Fiji since at least 1963, when an exhibition was held in Suva. Fiji has produced several professional players for the Australian Football League, however organised Australian rules did not begin there until 2009. The governing body for the sport on the islands is AFL Fiji, created in 2009. Fiji's national teams include the junior team which debuted in the 2005 Oceania Cup (Australian rules football), Oceania Cup (which Fiji has the designated host country for most of the tournamen'ts history), men's team which debuted internationally at the 2011 Australian Football International Cup (where they were crowned Division 2 champions) and the women's at the 2014 Australian Football International Cup. Australian Football International Cup
The Australian Football International Cup (also known as the AFL International Cup or simply the IC) was an triennial international tournament in Australian rules football. It was the biggest international tournament in the sport that is open to all nations (it is not called a World Cup as Australia does not compete due to the presence of the professional AFL competition and an abundance of semi-professional leagues). More than 26 nations have participated and the competition has expanded into multiple pools and both men and women's divisions. At the time of the last tournament in 2017, the sport had a record 170,744 registered players outside Australia (upwards of 23 per cent of total registered players worldwide) growing at a rate of 25 per cent per annum (as compared to an Australian participation growth rate of 10 per cent). Wes Fellowes
Wesley 'Wes' Fellowes (born 7 March 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) and South Australian National Football Leagues (SANFL). Originally from Bulleen-Templestowe Football Club, Fellowes was a tall ruckman and son of former Collingwood Football Club player Graeme Fellowes. Collingwood recruited Fellowes and he made his senior VFL debut in Round 13 1981 VFL season, 1981. He was quite a skillful and mobile ruckman, but his work rate was always questioned by the football public. He played some consistent football after an improving start to his career, and in 1986 VFL season, 1986 he stunned people, winning Collingwood's Best and Fairest award, the Copeland Trophy. David Rodan
David Rodan (born 8 October 1983) is an Australian rules football goal umpire and a retired professional footballer who played for the Richmond Tigers, Port Adelaide Power and the Melbourne Demons. Of Tongan heritage, Rodan is the first Fijian-born player to reach 100 AFL games. He is currently an AFL goal umpire. Setanta Ó hAilpín (born 18 March 1983) is a Fijian-Irish sportsman. He played hurling at senior level for the Cork county team before becoming a professional Australian rules footballer. Ó hAilpín is of mixed Irish and Rotuman background. His brothers Seán Óg, Teu and Aisake are also noted sportsmen. Alipate Carlile (born 30 April 1987) is a former professional Australian rules footballer for who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Carlile was born in Lautoka to mother Asenaca of Batiki. He was brought to Australia at the age of one. Carlile is a cousin of former Australian rules footballer David Rodan. Tom Nicholls is a former professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Aaron Hall (born 9 November 1990) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast Suns and the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Hall was born in Hobart to a Fijian mother and an Australian father. His mother, Naz, moved to Australia in 1983 as she won a scholarship to study in Tasmania. Nathan Freeman (born 16 June 1995) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League. He was drafted by Collingwood at pick 10 in the 2013 AFL national draft. He was then traded to the Saints in 2015 without having played an AFL game due to repeated injuries.
