Asynchronous Connection-oriented Logical Transport
The Bluetooth Asynchronous Connection-oriented logical transport (ACL) is one of two types of logical transport defined in the Bluetooth Core Specification, either BR/EDR ACL or LE ACL. BR/EDR ACL is the ACL logical transport variant used with Bluetooth Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/EDR, also known as Bluetooth Classic) whilst LE ACL is the ACL logical transport variant used with Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). The ACL transports are part of the Bluetooth data transport architecture. Note that all definitions of Bluetooth terminology, protocols and procedures including ACL are defined in the Bluetooth Core Specification which is published by the standards development organisation, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG). The Bluetooth Data Transport Architecture The architecture section of the Bluetooth Core Specification defines a number of concepts which collectively constitute the ''Bluetooth data transport architecture''. Key amongst these concepts are the Physica ...

ATP Citrate Synthase
ATP citrate synthase (also ATP citrate lyase (ACLY)) is an enzyme that in animals catalyzes an important step in fatty acid biosynthesis. By converting citrate to acetyl-CoA, the enzyme links carbohydrate metabolism, which yields citrate as an intermediate, with fatty acid biosynthesis, which consumes acetyl-CoA. In plants, ATP citrate lyase generates cytosolic acetyl-CoA precursors of thousands of specialized metabolites, including waxes, sterols, and polyketides. Function ATP citrate lyase is the primary enzyme responsible for the synthesis of cytosolic acetyl-CoA in many tissues. The enzyme is a tetramer of apparently identical subunits. In animals, the product, acetyl-CoA, is used in several important biosynthetic pathways, including lipogenesis and cholesterogenesis. It is activated by insulin. In plants, ATP citrate lyase generates acetyl-CoA for cytosolically-synthesized metabolites; Acetyl-CoA is not transported across subcellular membranes of plants. Such metabolite ...

Anti-cardiolipin Antibodies
Anti-cardiolipin antibodies (ACA) are antibodies often directed against cardiolipin and found in several diseases, including syphilis, antiphospholipid syndrome, livedoid vasculitis, vertebrobasilar insufficiency, Behçet's syndrome, idiopathic spontaneous abortion, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). They are a form of anti-mitochondrial antibody. In SLE, anti-DNA antibodies and anti-cardiolipin antibodies may be present individually or together; the two types of antibodies act independently. This is in contrast to rheumatoid arthritis with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) because anti-cardiolipin antibodies are present in both conditions, and therefore may tie the two conditions together. Anti-cardiolipin antibodies can be classified in two ways: * As IgM, IgG or IgA * As β2-glycoprotein dependent or independent ** In autoimmune disease, ACA are beta-2 glycoprotein dependent ** In syphilis Syphilis () is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium ' ...

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury
An anterior cruciate ligament injury occurs when the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is either stretched, partially torn, or completely torn. The most common injury is a complete tear. Symptoms include pain, an audible cracking sound during injury, instability of the knee, and knee effusion, joint swelling. Swelling generally appears within a couple of hours. In approximately 50% of cases, other knee joint, structures of the knee such as surrounding ligaments, cartilage, or Meniscus (anatomy), meniscus are damaged. The underlying mechanism often involves a rapid change in direction, sudden stop, landing after a jump, or direct contact to the knee. It is more common in athletes, particularly those who participate in alpine skiing, Association football, football (soccer), netball, American football, or basketball. Diagnosis is typically made by physical examination and is sometimes supported by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Physical examination will often show tenderness aro ...
