ABQ RIDE (City of Albuquerque Transit Department) is the local transit agency serving Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alvarado Transportation Center
The Alvarado Transportation Center (ATC) is a multimodal transit hub located at 100 1st Street SW in Downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. The complex was built as a hub for Albuquerque's regional transit system and as a replacement for Albuquerque's previous bus depot and train station. The center serves ABQ RIDE, Amtrak, Greyhound Lines, and the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter rail line. The ATC's Mission Revival-style building was designed to be reminiscent of the Alvarado Hotel, a railroad hotel which was formerly located on the site. Rapid Ride
Rapid Ride was an express bus service with limited bus rapid transit (BRT) features which was operated by ABQ RIDE, the local transit agency in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from 2004 to 2020. The Rapid Ride name was phased out in 2020 with the rebranding of the one remaining Rapid Ride line as ARTx, though the service remains essentially the same. The original Rapid Ride line was inaugurated on December 21, 2004, serving an route along the Central Avenue corridor. It was intended to provide a faster and more efficient means of public transit in Albuquerque and to serve as a pilot project for a potential light rail line. The New Mexico Rail Runner Express (AAR reporting mark NMRX) is a commuter rail system serving the metropolitan areas of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the Rio Metro Regional Transit District (Rio Metro), a regional transportation agency, while Herzog Transit Services currently holds the contract for the operation and maintenance of the line & equipment. SunTran
SunTran is the public transportation system serving the St. George, Utah area. It was formerly known as Dixie Area Rapid Transit or DART, which was launched and funded by Five County Association of Governments in 2003. The City of St. George in conjunction with federal transportation funding bought the bus system, today known as SunTran. Description When the bus system was founded in 2003, there were 60,000 riders that first year of service. In 2012, the ridership numbers increased to over 500,000. In January 2015, SunTran service expanded operation outside the St. George city limits. SunTran may eventually expand into a metro/county-wide mass transit system as local municipalities secure efficient funding.
