ABC-79M
The ABC-79M (4x4) (Romanian: ''amfibiu blindat pentru cercetare'') armoured personnel carrier has been developed in Romania and uses some automotive components of the TAB-77 (8 × 8) armoured personnel carrier. Although previously known as TABC-79 (''transportorul blindat pentru cercetare''), it is now known as the ABC-79M. The ABC-79M is a simplified version of the earlier TAB-77 8x8 armored personnel carrier, which was itself a Romanian version of the BTR-70. Both vehicles share several common components. The ABC-79M is fully amphibious, and is equipped with a single water-jet for propulsion. The TAB-71 (''Transportorul Amfibiu Blindat model 1971'') is the Romanian license-built version of the BTR-60PB. It was produced between 1970 and 1990 by RATMIL (now Romarm). It is the only other license manufacture of the BTR-60PB. Design and Development Romania had the construction and manufacturing documentation for the BTR-60P version since 1962. A year later, the TAB-63 prototype was built however, it did not enter production as the Romanian authorities wished to acquire the license to produce the more modern BTR-60PB. The CA-95 is a highly mobile, short range, Romanian native-made amphibious self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon, currently in service with the Romanian Land Forces. The CA-95 is the Romanian variant of the Soviet 9K31 Strela-1 system. It can carry four infrared-guided surface to air missiles and has a firing range of approximately 4.2 km.
