A5 Motorway (Cyprus)
The A5 links the A1 motorway (at the level of Kofinou village) with the A3 near Larnaca. It serves as the main route linking the cities of Limassol (with the biggest seaport on the island) and Larnaca (with the largest airport). It runs parallel to the older B5 Main Road. Kofinou Interchange
Kofinou ( el, Κοφίνου; tr, Köfünye or ) is a village located in the Larnaca District of Cyprus. It is situated where the roads from Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol trisected, prior to the by-pass built in the 1990s. History Cyprus was invaded and conquered by Ottoman Turkey in 1570-1 A.D. At that time a small contingent of Turkish forces was stationed there. Their descendants lived in relative peace with the local Greek and Christian population for many years. In the 1950s during the uprising by Greek Cypriots to overthrow British Empire rule the relationship between the Greek and Turkish population worsened and the Greeks left but were replaced by Turkish Cypriots from another village. The village became infamous on 15 November 1967, when some National Guards troops overran the TMT (a Turkish-Cypriot armed group) fighters located at the village, including the neighbouring mixed village of Agios Theodoros. Larnaca District
Larnaca District ( el, Επαρχία Λάρνακας, tr, Larnaka kazası) is one of the six districts of Cyprus. Its capital is Larnaca. It is bordered on the east by Famagusta District, on the north by Nicosia District and on the west by Limassol District. A small part of the district was occupied by the Turkish army in 1974, and most of the occupied part is now ''de facto'' administered as part of Northern Cyprus's Lefkoşa District, with the remaining area near Pergamos being ''de facto'' administered by the Gazimağusa District. The communities of Melouseia, Tremetousia and Arsos lie in the occupied zone, while the municipal/community areas of Athienou, Troulloi and Pergamos are partially occupied. The A1 motorway, locally referred to as the NicosiaLimassol highway is the first and longest motorway built in Cyprus. A3 Motorway (Cyprus)
The A3 motorway (''Greek: δρόμος Διεθνούς Αερολιμένα Λάρνακας - Αγίας Νάπας'') is a modern motorway linking Larnaca International Airport, the largest airport in Cyprus, and Ayia Napa, a popular seaside destination. It is 55 km long. The road was built in five phases and took about 10 years to be completed. The first part of the road until Dhekelia is locally referred as "Larnaca Beltway" (''Greek: Παρακαμπτήριος Λάρνακας'') and the second part till the end of the motorway as "Dhekelia - Famagusta Motorway" (''Greek: Αυτοκινητόδρομος Δεκέλειας - Αμμοχώστου''). The Port of Limassol is the largest port in Cyprus, located in the city of Limassol. A2 Motorway (Cyprus)
The A2 motorway in Cyprus is a road which branches off the A1 at Pera Chorio-Nisou and connects to the A3. It is referred to locally as the Nicosia - Larnaca motorway ( el, Αυτοκινητόδρομος Λευκωσίας - Λάρνακας, tr, Lefkoşa - Larnaka yolu). It is also called "the tube" because it is mostly straight with a very limited number of exits. Two of its 6 junctions are limited access to facilitate access to Athienou. The A4 in Cyprus is a road which links the centre of Larnaca with the original terminal of Larnaca International Airport.
