A2A S.p.A. is an Italian company, organised as a ''società per azioni'', that generates, distributes, and markets renewable energy, electricity, gas, integrated water supply, and waste management services. The company has significant presence in the North of Italy, energy production facilities in Italy and Greece. Company history A2A was formed on by the merging of three Northern Italian municipality-owned utilities. They include (AEM, est. 1880) and (AMSA, est. 1907), both of Milan, and (ASM, est. 1908) of Brescia. As of early 2023, it remains partially owned by the Municipalities of Milan and Brescia (25% ownership each). The municipalities are responsible of appointing 12 out of its 15 directors. Marco Patuano (born 6 June 1964) is an Italian economist, manager and President of A2A. Education Patuano studied Corporate Finance and graduated from Bocconi University, in Milan, Italy, in 1990. He then proceeded his studies with numerous post-graduate specializations. Over time he maintained a good relationship with Italian universities, collaborating on MBA programs with Bocconi University of Milan and Luiss University of Rome. Career in telecom Patuano started his career in SIP, the former name of Telecom Italia in 1990 working in the financial branch of the company. Renato Mazzoncini is an Italian businessman, the CEO and the Managing Director of A2A. Biography Mazzoncini was born in 1968 in Brescia, Italy. In 1992, he graduated with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He is married and has three children. Between 1995 and 2000, he was a member of a project team set up by Ansaldo Trasporti to build Copenhagen's automatic metro.
