A. Miles Pratt
Albert Miles Pratt (January 4, 1885 – June 11, 1969) was briefly acting mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, from June 30 to July 15, 1936. He was New Orleans's Commissioner of Public Finance for two terms in the 1920s and 1930s. In 1936 he was appointed collector of customs for the Port of New Orleans. Along with Fred A. Earhart and Jesse S. Cave, Pratt was one of three acting mayors who served in the summer of 1936 between the resignation of Mayor T. Semmes Walmsley and the accession of Robert Maestri Robert Sidney Maestri (December 11, 1899 – May 6, 1974) was mayor of New Orleans from 1936 to 1946 and a key ally of Huey P. The Port of New Orleans is a significant transport hub located in Louisiana, United States. It serves as an embarkation point for cruise passengers and Louisiana’s sole international container port. The port generates $100 million in revenue annually through its four lines of business – cargo (46%), rail (31%), cruise (16%), and industrial real estate (7%). Robert Maestri
Robert Sidney Maestri (December 11, 1899 – May 6, 1974) was mayor of New Orleans from 1936 to 1946 and a key ally of Huey P. Long Jr. and Earl Kemp Long. Early life Robert Maestri was born in New Orleans on December 11, 1899, the son of Francesco Maestri of Italian heritage and Angele Lacabe Maestri, of French heritage. He inherited his father's furniture store at an early age, and quickly built it up into one of the city's largest. After investing in real estate, Maestri was able to amass a considerable fortune. He also had political ambition, and after allying himself with governor Huey Long, he was appointed to head the state's Conservation Commission, which allowed him to control production quotas in the state's oil industry. He served as conservation commissioner from 1929 to 1936, and was a powerful member of Long's inner circle.
