A. David Lewis
Aaron David Lewis (born 1977 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American comic book and graphic novel writer. He is also a comics scholar focusing on literary theory, religious studies, and graphic medicine. He is the founder of the Caption Box comic book imprint. He has also served as an instructor at Georgetown University, Northeastern University, MCPHS, Bentley University, and Boston University (as a teaching fellow for Frank Korom, Stephen Prothero, and Steven T. Katz). Additionally, he has given lectures at conferences such as WizardWorld, the San Diego Comic-Con, and the New York Comic-Con, among others. He is an editorial board member for the ''International Journal of Comic Art'' under editor John Lent. He was an executive board member for the Comics Studies Society. NuDay Syria
NuDay is a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian relief to people affected by the crisis in Syria. Founded in 2013, NuDay is headquartered in New Hampshire. Since the start of the Syrian Revolution, NuDay has shipped millions of dollars worth of clothes, medicine, and food to displaced families in Syria. History Comic Book Resources was founded by Jonah Weiland in 1995 as a development of the Kingdom Come Message Board, a message forum that Weiland created to discuss DC Comics' then-new mini-series of the same name. ''Broken Frontier'' is a web-magazine which publishes news, interviews, and essays about the comic book industry, with a focus on the British small press scene. It was founded by Frederik Hautain in 2002. In 2017 the site came under the ownership of long-term contributor and current Editor-in-Chief Andy Oliver. Acquisition by Platinum Studios In 2006, Broken Frontier was purchased by the multimedia entertainment company and comics publisher Platinum Studios as part of an initiative to increase Platinum's Web presence. Broken Frontier was a fully owned subsidiary of Platinum at this time, but was given the autonomy to continue operating as before. Cinescape - Kuwait National Cinema Company (KNCC), formerly known Kuwait Cinema Company, is a movie theater chain and film distributor in Kuwait. The company was incorporated in 1954 with a capital of 7 million rupees, a few years before the Kuwaiti dinar currency was introduced. Commencing in 1996, KNCC used modern shopping centers for multi-screen theaters and initiated a plan to renovate older theaters in an effort to enhance its corporate image. Harvey Awards
The Harvey Awards are given for achievement in comic books. Named for writer-artist Harvey Kurtzman, the Harvey Awards were founded by Gary Groth in 1988, president of the publisher Fantagraphics, to be the successor to the Kirby Awards that were discontinued in 1987. The Harvey Awards are now nominated by the Harvey Awards Nomination Committee. The winners are selected by an open vote among comic-book professionals. The Harveys are no longer affiliated with Fantagraphics. The Harvey Awards Executive Committee is made up of unpaid volunteers, and the Awards are financed through sponsorships.
