A.J. English
Albert Jay "A. J." English (born July 11, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player who played two seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is also the father of current player A. J. English III. College English played Basketball for Howard High School of Technology from 1983 to 1986. The team was State Champions in 1985 and he received the Delaware High School Player of the Year in 1986. He played for Virginia Union University from 1986 to 1990. English was named the NCAA Division II National Player of the Year in 1990 NBA career He was selected by the Washington Bullets in the 2nd round (37th overall) of the 1990 NBA draft. English played two seasons for the Bullets, averaging 9.9 points per game. English signed a contract with Portland Trail Blazers on October 1, 1993. Wilmington, Delaware
Wilmington is the List of municipalities in Delaware, most populous city in the U.S. state of Delaware. The city was built on the site of Fort Christina, the first Swedish colonization of the Americas, Swedish settlement in North America. The NABC Player of the Year is an award given annually by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to recognize the top player in men's college basketball across the three largest college athletic associations in the United States. Delaware Sports Museum And Hall Of Fame
The Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame was founded in 1976. Al Cartwright, who helped found it, was its first president and was inducted to its hall of fame in 1980. The current museum building was constructed in 1993. The Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame is a member of the International Sports Heritage Association. The Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame contains the Izzy Katzman Sports Library, named after a 1993 inductee. The Portland Trail Blazers (colloquially known as the Blazers) are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. The 1990–91 NBA season, 1990 NBA draft took place on June 27, 1990, in New York City, New York. One of the standouts of this draft is Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Payton. Virginia Union University is a Private university, private Historically black colleges and universities, historically black university in Richmond, Virginia. History The American Baptist Home Mission Society (ABHMS) founded the school as Richmond Theological Institute in 1865 shortly after Union troops took control of Richmond, Virginia, at the end of the American Civil War, for African-American freedmen to enter into the ministry.
