Asociación Deportiva Municipal Turrialba Club de Fútbol is a Costa Rican football club, that currently plays in the Costa Rican Liga de Ascenso. History Founded in 1940, Turrialba made it to the Segunda División in 1964 and won promotion to the Primera División in 1965. During the 1960s and 1970s they were known as a yo-yo club, changing divisions frequently. Turrialba is a Cantons of Costa Rica, canton in the Cartago Province, Cartago province of Costa Rica. The head city is in Turrialba District, Turrialba district. History Turrialba was created on 19 August 1903 by decree 84. Geography Turrialba has an area of km2 and a mean elevation of metres. Turrialba is the eleventh largest canton among the eighty two cantons that comprise Costa Rica. Costa Rican Second Division (also known as Liga Transcomer for sponsorship reasons) is a professional league incorporated in 1921 for association football clubs in Costa Rica. It is the country's second-tier/division football competition, which is contested by 18 clubs and operates by a system of promotion and relegation.
