A.C. Orestias
A.C. Orestias (full name Athletic Club of Orestias/ ) is a Greek volleyball club based in Orestias. It was founded in 1970 and it has important presence in the Greek volleyball championship. Orestias was the finalist of the championship at three times and one time the finalist of the Greek cup. Nevertheless the most important moment was the presence of the club in the final of the CEV Challenge Cup, in 1995. History A.C. Orestias was founded in 1970. The first presence in the A1 Ethniki championship was in 1984. Since 1989, Orestias was one of the most powerful teams in the championship. At those years Orestias had notable players such as Nikos Samaras and Theodoros Baev. The club played three times in the finals of the championship and one time in the final of the cup. Orestiada
Orestiada (, Katharevousa, formerly ), is the northeasternmost, northernmost and newest city of Greece and the second largest town of the Evros (regional unit), Evros regional unit of western Thrace, Thrace. Founded by Greek refugees from Edirne after the Treaty of Lausanne when the population exchange occurred between Turkey and Greece, in which the river Maritsa, Evros became the new border between the two countries. The A1 Ethniki (), often referred to as the Greek Volleyball League, is the highest professional volleyball league in Greece. It is run by the Hellenic Volleyball Federation. Nikos Samaras
Nikos Samaras (1 July 1970 – 4 January 2013) was a Greek volleyball player, who competed for various Greek, Italian, Spanish and Turkish clubs. Samaras was born in Stuttgart. He led Orestiada, helping the team to become successful in Greece and Europe. Many young people turned to volleyball in the 1990s because of him. The Pallavolo Parma was one of the oldest and most successful professional man's volleyball clubs in Italy. Its colours were white and azure. Founded in Parma in the 1940s, after a sequence of incorporations with other teams, it is currently disappeared from Italian professional volleyball panorama. It won 8 national titles, 2 CEV Champions League and a number of other Italian and European trophies. History Founded in 1946 for initiative of the Railroaders's Recreative Club as ''Ferrovieri Parma'', the team took part for the first time at Serie A in 1949 and won its first national title in 1950. Greek Volleyball Cup
The Greek Volleyball Cup is organized by Hellenic Volleyball Federation and started in 1980–81 season. The competition was not held sometimes in the past for financial reasons . Olympiacos won the first Cup in 1981 and is the most successful club, having won the title 18 times. They are also the current Cup holders. In 1986–87 edition, teams from the 1st Division did not take part. In 1998, Final 4 was established. In the period 2003–07, Final 8 were held. From 2003 to 2012 only the 1st Division teams competed for the trophy. From 2013 the participating clubs come from all divisions.
