A-Square Company, LLC was a manufacturer of rifles, ammunition and bullets based in Chamberlain, South Dakota, in the United States. The company was one of 19 that are members of the SAAMI, Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturer's Institution (SAAMI). The company's focus was on its firearms for hunting large dangerous game. This was reflected in the selection of larger caliber chamberings in the company's rifles. History The company was established in 1979. Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Alphin, Arthur B. Alphin was the founder and chief designer for the A-Square Company. Besides the company location in Chamberlain, South Dakota, the company had a location in Bedford, Kentucky. By August 2008 Alphin planned to move his ammunition factory to Butte, Montana. A-Square-manufactured rifles usually came with stainless steel barrels as a standard feature. Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Brent Alphin (born September 5, 1948) is a retired United States Army officer and military historian. He is the founder and owner of A-Square, manufacturer of American hunting rifles. He taught military history at West Point. Since retiring he has co-authored several books with his wife and children's author Elaine Marie Alphin. He also assisted ghostwriter Lisa Harkrader in writing Animorphs #51: ''The Absolute (Animorphs), The Absolute'', by providing her with information about tanks and reading over the book to check for errors. The .25-45 Sharps (6.35×45mm) is a firearms cartridge designed by Michael H Blank, then CEO of the Sharps Rifle Company, LLC, as a general hunting cartridge for most North American game, in particular deer, antelope, hogs, and coyotes. Unlike .300 AAC Blackout which was targeted specifically at the suppressed rifle market, and adapted to hunting, the .25-45 Sharps was designed primarily as a hunting round. That is not to say the round does not have tactical applications as its ballistics exceed that of the 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge. The cartridge name is derived from its caliber ( bullet) and case length of 45 millimeters (necked-up 5.56×45 mm), as opposed to older hyphenated cartridges that were named for caliber and powder charge. Factory ballistics with the bullet equal those of the original .250-3000 Savage with the same bullet weight.
