A-222 Bereg
The A-222 Bereg is a 130 mm self-propelled coastal artillery gun developed by the Soviet Union. It entered service with the Russian Navy. Design The A-222 gun is a variant of the AK-130 naval gun. It uses the same ammunition and has the same ballistics. The gun is mounted on an eight-wheel drive MAZ-543M truck. The battery includes command and generator vehicles, and radar with a range of 35 kilometers. History According to Norman Friedman, development started in December 1976, and battery underwent government trials from November 1992 to May 1993; the battery was then seized by Ukraine. Self-propelled artillery (also called locomotive artillery) is artillery equipped with its own propulsion system to move toward its firing position. Within the terminology are the self-propelled gun, self-propelled howitzer, self-propelled mortar, and self-propelled rocket artillery. Titan-Barrikady () is a military-industrial company based in Volgograd, Russia. It was formed in 1914, after the merger between the Barrikady Production Association and the Titan Design Bureau. It is a subsidiary of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology. History The plant was established in 1914 as the Tsaritsyn Weapons Factory, and renamed Red Barricades after the Russian Revolution. It was for a time the largest munition factory in Europe. Titan had its origins as the factory's design bureau. The AK-130 is a Russian designed automatic dual barrel naval cannon with a caliber of , capable of firing 10-40 rounds per minute (per gun barrel). Eight-wheel drive, often notated as 8WD or 8×8, is a drivetrain configuration that allows all eight wheels of an eight-wheeled vehicle to be drive wheels simultaneously.
