The 9th Legislative Assembly of Quebec was the provincial legislature in Quebec, Canada that existed from May 11, 1897, to December 7, 1900. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Félix-Gabriel Marchand was the governing party. The Liberals would hold on to power until 1936. Adélard Turgeon
Adélard Turgeon, (December 18, 1863 – November 14, 1930) was a Canadian lawyer and politician. Born in Saint-Étienne-de-Beaumont (Beaumont), Lower Canada, Turgeon attended the Collège de Lévis before receiving a Bachelor of Laws degree from Université Laval at Quebec. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1887 and started a law career. He was created a King's Counsel in 1903. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in the 1890 election for Bellechasse. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1892 and 1897. In 1897, he was appointed commissioner of colonization and mines in the cabinet of Félix-Gabriel Marchand and continued the position in the cabinet of Simon-Napoléon Parent. Charlevoix (provincial Electoral District)
Charlevoix is a former provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, which elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec. As of its final election, it included the municipalities of La Malbaie, Saint-Siméon, Baie-Saint-Paul and Baie-Sainte-Catherine. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada). Its final election was in 1908. It disappeared in the 1912 election and its successor electoral district was Charlevoix-Saguenay. It was recreated for the 1948 election and its final election was in 2008. Pierre D'Auteuil
Pierre D'Auteuil (April 2, 1857 – December 11, 1933) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and judge. Born in Rivière-Ouelle, Canada East, D'Auteuil was educated at the Séminaire de Québec and at the Université Laval. He was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1881 and created a King's Counsel in 1906. A lawyer, he was mayor of Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec from 1897 to 1901. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for Charlevoix in 1897. A Conservative, he did not run in 1900. He was elected again in 1904 and 1908, and then again (in Charlevoix-Saguenay) in 1912, and 1916. He was defeated in 1919. Champlain (provincial Electoral District)
Champlain is a provincial electoral riding in the Mauricie region of Quebec, Canada, which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the eastern portions of the city of Trois-Rivières as well as Saint-Tite, Saint-Maurice and Sainte-Thècle. Its boundaries have remained the same since the 1973 election. However, the boundaries changed for the 2018 election as it gained Hérouxville, Lac-aux-Sables, Notre-Dame-de-Montauban, Saint-Adelphe, Sainte-Thècle, Saint-Séverin and Saint-Tite from Laviolette. It is named after the founder of Quebec City in 1608, Samuel de Champlain. Pierre Grenier was a politician Quebec, Canada and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec (MLA). Early life He was born on June 11, 1837 in Trois-Rivières, Mauricie and was a physician. Political career He ran as a Conservative candidate in the district of in the provincial district of Champlain in 1890 and won with the backing of local Catholic Bishop Louis-François Richer Laflèche. Antoine Rocheleau
Antoine Rocheleau (October 4, 1836 – April 28, 1901) was a farmer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Chambly in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1886 to 1892 and from 1897 to 1900 as a Liberal. Henry Thomas Duffy
Henry Thomas Duffy KC (May 29, 1852 – July 3, 1903) was a Canadian politician. Born in L'Avenir, Lower Canada, the son of John Duffy and Mary Ann Mountain, Duffy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature in 1876 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1878 from McGill College. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1879 and practiced law in Sweetsburg, Quebec in the Eastern Townships. Entering politics, he ran unsuccessfully as the Liberal candidate for a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in an 1889 by-election held in the electoral district of Brome. In 1894, he was elected mayor of Sweetsburg, a post which he held for some time. He was elected in the 1897 election in Brome and was appointed minister of public works in the cabinet of Félix-Gabriel Marchand.
