99 Percent Declaration
The 99 Percent Declaration or 99% Declaration is a not-for-profit organization based in Kentucky that originated from a working group of the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement in Zuccotti Park, New York City, in October 2011. The organization published a document calling for a "National General Assembly" to be held beginning the week of July 4, 2012 in Philadelphia, which was rejected by the general assemblies of OWS and Occupy Philadelphia. The Declaration includes demands for an immediate ban on all monetary and gift contributions to all politicians, implementation of a public financing system for political campaigns, and the enactment of an amendment to the United States Constitution overturning the Supreme Court's '' Citizens United v. A not-for-profit or non-for-profit organization (NFPO) is a Legal Entity, legal entity that does not distribute surplus funds to its members and is formed to fulfill specific objectives. While not-for-profit organizations and Nonprofit organization, non-profit organizations (NPO) are distinct legal entities, the terms are sometimes used interchangeably. Lobby 99
Lobby 99 is an Israeli not-for-profit initiative, aimed at promoting the interests of the public in the Knesset and the government. It was founded as a reaction to the wide phenomenon of commercial lobbyists that do the same, but only for corporations, tycoons and closed interest groups. Its name draws inspiration from the widely known We are the 99% slogan, coined by the occupy movement. History The initiative began as crowdfunding project in June 2015. After it was funded with 136,000 ILS from 1084 donors (twice the original goal), a vote was held in order to decide on the main aspects upon which to focus the lobbying. We Are The 99%
"We are the 99%" is a political slogan widely used and coined during the 2011 Occupy movement. The phrase directly refers to the income and wealth inequality in the United States, with a concentration of wealth among the top-earning 1%. It reflects the belief that "the 99%" are paying the price for the mistakes of a tiny minority within the upper class. "The 1%" is not necessarily a reference to top 1% of wage earners, but a reference to the top 1% of individuals by net worth, whose earned wages are only a fraction of their total sources of wealth.
