Radio broadcasting is the broadcasting of audio signal, audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. CFWH-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 94.5 MHz FM in Whitehorse, Yukon. The station broadcasts the programming of the CBC Radio One network known as CBC North. Until its closure in 2012, CFWH's sister television station was CFWH-TV. History CFWH began broadcasting on February 24, 1944 as a radio station owned and operated by the Northwest Service Command of the United States Army Service Forces, the entity then responsible for maintenance of the Alaska Highway. The station was staffed by members of the United States Army, with programming furnished by the Special Services. By December 1945, a temporary landline connection to CJCA in Edmonton allowed for a relay of the CBC's Christmas Day programming that year. CKCW-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 94.5 FM in Moncton, New Brunswick. The station plays an adult contemporary format branded as ''K94.5'' and is owned by the Maritime Broadcasting System. History CKCW originally began broadcasting on December 4, 1934, at 1370 AM, with only 100 watts of power. The station was originally owned and operated by Moncton Broadcasting Company Ltd, managed by F.A. (Fred) Lynds. The AM frequency changed to 1400 in 1941, and then to its final AM position at 1220 in 1946. Eastern Radio Broadcasting (now known as MBS Radio) purchased CKCW in 1972. Owned by Radio de la communauté francophone d'Ottawa (RCFO), the station received CRTC approval on February 4, 2010. The station officially launched at 6 a.m. on November 15, 2010 after a testing period that began in September 2010. While the Ottawa-Gatineau market is served by several francophone stations, CJFO is the first station in the market targeted specifically to the Franco-Ontarian audience in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. CITE-FM-1 is a French-language radio station located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 102.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 92,000 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna on Mount Orford. This gives the station an impressive coverage area, as far west as Montreal, and as far south as St. Johnsbury, Vermont and Littleton, New Hampshire. However, it suffers from severe deficiencies in downtown Sherbrooke, most likely due to tall buildings blocking its signal in some areas. As a result, the station also operates a low-power relay in Sherbrooke, CITE-FM-2, which broadcasts on 94.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50 watts, also using an omnidirectional antenna.
