7th CIMIC Regiment (Italy)
The 7th CIMIC Regiment () is a Civil-Military Co-operation regiment of the Italian Army based in Motta di Livenza in Veneto. The regiment is assigned to the Tactical Intelligence Brigade (Italy), Tactical Intelligence Brigade. In 1926, the Royal Italian Army formed the 7th Engineer Regiment in Florence. During the Second Italo-Ethiopian War and World War II the regiment's depot formed engineer battalions and smaller units, which deployed with divisions and corps to the fronts of the war. After the announcement of the Armistice of Cassibile on 8 September 1943 the regiment was disbanded by Operation Achse, invading German forces. In 1944, the Italian Co-Belligerent Army formed the CIV Mixed Engineer Battalion for the Combat Group "Mantova", which fought on the Allies of World War II, allied side in the Italian campaign (World War II), Italian campaign of World War II. A dovecote or dovecot , doocot (Scots Language, Scots) or columbarium is a structure intended to house Domestic pigeon, pigeons or doves. Dovecotes may be free-standing structures in a variety of shapes, or built into the end of a house or barn. They generally contain pigeonholes for the birds to nest. Pigeons and doves were an important food source historically in the Middle East and Europe and were kept for their eggs and dung. History and geography The oldest dovecotes are thought to have been the fortress-like dovecotes of Upper Egypt, and the domed dovecotes of Iran. The 5th Engineer Regiment ( it, 5° Reggimento Genio Guastatori) is a military engineer regiment of the Italian Army based in Macomer in Sardinia. Today the regiment is the engineer unit of the Mechanized Brigade "Sassari". History On 1 November 1895 the 5th Engineer Regiment (Miners) was formed in Rivoli with personnel from the 1st Engineer Regiment, 2nd Engineer Regiment, and 3rd Engineer Regiment. The regiment consisted of a staff, four brigades, a train company, and a depot. In 1896 the regiment moved to Turin. In 1910 the brigades were renamed battalions. The VI Corps ( it, VI Corpo d'Armata) was a corps of the Royal Italian Army during World War II that participated in the invasion of Yugoslavia. After the capitulation of Yugoslavia, the VI Army Corps was relocated to Dalmatia and Croatia. The VIII Army Corps ( it, VIII Corpo d'Armata) was an infantry corps of the Royal Italian Army during World War II, when it participated in the Italian invasion of Albania, and the Greco-Italian War and the subsequent Italian occupation of Greece.
