7th Armed Police Mobile Division
The 3rd Army Division () (2nd Formation) was created in May 1969 from Beijing Military Region, Beijing and Shenyang Military Region and soon sent to Yining City, Ili, Xinjiang under the direct control of Xinjiang Military Region. The division was then composed of: *7th Infantry Regiment; *8th Infantry Regiment; *9th Infantry Regiment; *313th Artillery Regiment. In December 1969 the division was renamed as 7th Army Division, while former 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade (People's Republic of China), 7th Army Division renamed as new 3rd Army Division. The re-formation and re-designation of several army divisions in Xinjiang showed apparent evidence that there might be plans to re-activate 2nd Corps (People's Liberation Army), 2nd Army Corps and 3rd Corps (People's Liberation Army), 3rd Army Corps, even 4th Corps (People's Liberation Army), 4th Army Corps of the PLA. Beijing Military Region
The Beijing Military Region was one of seven military regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. From the mid 1980s to 2017, it had administration of all military affairs within Beijing city, Tianjin city, Hebei province, Shanxi province, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Region is mainly responsible for defending the People's Republic of China from Mongolia and Russia, and also protects the capital of China, and had the largest number of military personnel of any of the seven regions active from 1985-2017. The Region has now been disbanded and superseded by the Central Theater Command and Northern Theater Command. The 3rd Corps() was a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army that existed from 1949 to 1952. The 3rd Corps was activated on February 1, 1949 from 3rd Column, Northwest Field Army. Its history could be traced to 3rd Column of Jinsui Military Region formed on November 10, 1947. Xinjiang Military Region
The Lanzhou Military Region was one of seven military regions in the People's Republic of China. It directed all People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police forces in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, and Ngari Prefecture in northwest Tibet. It was headquartered in Lanzhou in Gansu Province. It is bordered to the south by the Chengdu Military Region, and to the north by Mongolia, the Altai Republic, which is a political subdivision of the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan. This region is now part of the Western Theater Command due to the military reforms of 2015. Shenyang Military Region
The Shenyang Military Region was one of seven military regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It has command and control of military and armed police forces in the three northeast provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang, and Liaoning, which also form Military Districts. This region is now superseded by the Northern Theater Command. The Shenyang Military Region was left with unchanged boundaries since the late 1960s. It is bordered internally by the Beijing Military Region to the west. Externally, it is bordered by North Korea to the south east and the Russian Far East to the north. Prior to the Cultural Revolution, military region commanders tended to remain in post for long periods. As the PLA took a stronger role in politics, this began to be seen as something of a threat to party (or, at least, civilian) control of the military.
