7 Intelligence Company
7 Intelligence Company (abbreviated 7 Int Coy) is a Canadian Forces Primary Reserve Intelligence Branch unit based in Ottawa. It is part of the Canadian Army Intelligence Regiment. The Intelligence Officers and Operators of the unit reside in the National Capital Region. They deploy on domestic and foreign operations, and are primarily responsible for tactical, or combat intelligence. History Ottawa's reserve intelligence unit, originally named 2 Intelligence Platoon, was established 18 February 1993 by the Treasury Board as a support unit for the Special Service Force, in Canadian Forces Base Petawawa. The unit was transferred to 1st Canadian Division in 1994 and then to 4th Canadian Division (then called Land Force Central Area) on 8 April 1995. Intelligence Branch (Canadian Forces)
The Intelligence Branch () is a personnel branch of the Canadian Forces (CF) that is concerned with providing relevant and correct information to enable commanders to make decisions. The branch works in a variety of challenging positions, at home and abroad, meeting the needs of commanders and operational planners of the Canadian Forces at all levels and in all environments. Since the branch's inception, members have deployed overseas to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haiti, Somalia, Rwanda, Timor-Leste, Latvia, Ukraine, Mali, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq. General (Canada), General Jonathan Holbert Vance (born January 3, 1964) is a retired Canadian Armed Forces, Canadian Forces officer who served as a General (Canada), general in the Canadian Army. Vance was the Chief of the Defence Staff (Canada), Chief of the Defence Staff from 2015 to 2021. Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS; ; ) is the title of the professional head of the Canadian Armed Forces. As the senior military position, the CDS advises the Cabinet, particularly the minister of national defence and the prime minister. Sexual harassment in the military is unwanted sexual behaviour experienced as threatening, offensive, or otherwise upsetting, which occurs in a military setting. An ice storm, also known as a glaze event or a silver storm, is a type of winter storm characterized by freezing rain. The National Weather Service, U.S. National Weather Service defines an ice storm as a storm which results in the accumulation of at least of ice on exposed surfaces. 1997 Red River Flood
The Red River flood of 1997 was a major flood that occurred in April and May 1997 along the Red River of the North in Minnesota, North Dakota, and southern Manitoba. It was the most severe flood of the river since 1826. The flood reached throughout the Red River Valley, affecting the cities of Fargo and Winnipeg, but none so greatly as Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, where floodwaters reached more than inland. They inundated virtually everything in the twin communities. Total damages for the Red River region were US$3.5 billion. The flood was the result of abundant snowfall and extreme temperatures.
