The 72nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigade () is an infantry unit of the Russian Ground Forces, part of the 3rd Army Corps. History Formation The recruitment of the brigade from volunteers was announced by local authorities in early August 2022, as part of the drive to create the 3rd Army Corps from volunteers to reinforce Russian troops fighting in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 3rd Army Corps (Russia)
The 3rd Army Corps is a military formation of the Russian Ground Forces formed in June 2022 to participate in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The 3rd Corps was raised in response to the depletion of trained manpower during the early months of the invasion. It was formed exclusively by volunteers, as at that point Russia had not yet begun the process of 2022 Russian mobilization, partial mobilization and preferred to avoid or delay doing so. Recruitment was on a regional basis, with Federal subjects of Russia, federal subject administrations and local authorities conducting recruitment campaigns. Andriivka ( ) is a destroyed village in Bakhmut urban hromada, Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It lies between the larger village of Klishchiivka to the north and the urban settlement of Kurdiumivka to the south. Andriivka had a population of 74 in 2001. Ivanivske (), known as Krasne () before 2016, is a small town ( selo) in eastern Ukraine, located in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast. It is located west of Bakhmut. History Ivanivske was founded in the 18th century as a dacha of Bakhmut by Protopope Ivan Lukyanov. The protopope was known for his spiritual leadership, and many Cossacks came to his farm to work for the sake of spiritual salvation.
