The 6th Parliament of Ontario was in session from December 29, 1886, until April 26, 1890, just prior to the 1890 general election. 1890 Ontario General Election
The 1890 Ontario general election was the seventh general election held in the province of Ontario, Canada. It was held on June 5, 1890, to elect the 91 members of the 7th Legislative Assembly of Ontario ("MLAs"). The Assembly had been increased from 90 members after the passage of an Act in 1889 creating Nipissing as a riding. The election was a victory for the Ontario Liberal Party, led by Oliver Mowat. The party won a sixth consecutive term in government, despite losing a small number of seats in the Legislature. The Ontario Conservative Party, led by William Ralph Meredith won two additional seats. This election was held partially using the Limited voting system where each Toronto voter had two votes for the three MPPs in the district. The Ministry of Natural Resources is a government ministry of the Canadian province of Ontario that is responsible for Ontario's provincial parks, forests, fisheries, wildlife, mineral aggregates and the Crown lands and waters that make up 87 per cent of the province. George William Monk
George William Monk (September 10, 1838 – August 18, 1917) was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario who represented the Ottawa area riding of Carleton (Ontario provincial electoral district), Carleton from 1871 to 1894. He was born in March Township, Ontario, March Township, Ontario in 1838. He was educated in Bytown and Potsdam (village), New York, Potsdam, New York. Carleton (Ontario Provincial Electoral District)
Carleton is a provincial riding in Ontario, Canada. It was created in 1867 at the time of confederation and lasted until provincial redistribution in 1996. In the 1999 provincial election it was redistributed into Nepean—Carleton and Lanark—Carleton. In 2007 it was abolished into Carleton—Mississippi Mills and Lanark—Frontenac—Lennox and Addington. In 2018 it was re-created as the riding of Carleton from parts of Nepean—Carleton, Carleton—Mississippi Mills and Ottawa South. Boundaries For the last three elections when Carleton existed (1987, 1990 and 1995) the riding included the municipalities of West Carleton Township, Goulbourn Township, Rideau Township, Osgoode Township and the City of Kanata. Hamilton Parke O'Connor
Hamilton Parke O'Connor, (November 10, 1844 – September 13, 1900) was an Ontario lawyer and political figure. He represented Bruce South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1882 to 1894 as a Liberal member. He was born in London, Canada West in 1844, the son of Hamilton Bligh O'Connor. He qualified to practice as an attorney in 1867 and was called to the bar in 1878. In 1875, he married Jane Watkins McLean. O'Connor served as mayor of Walkerton in 1880 and 1881. He was elected to the provincial assembly in an 1882 by-election held after Rupert Mearse Wells was elected to the House of Commons. John Walter Scott Biggar
John Walter Scott Biggar (March 21, 1843 – July 3, 1897) was an Ontario, Canada farmer and political figure. He represented Bruce North (provincial electoral district), Bruce North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, Conservative member from 1886 to 1890. He was born in Woolwich, England, in 1843; his father and mother were born in Scotland. He was educated in the Netherlands and London and later came to Saugeen Township, Ontario, Saugeen Township, Canada West with his family in 1859. In 1873, he married Margaret Geddes. He served in the militia, travelling with Colonel Garnet Wolseley, 1st Viscount Wolseley, Wolsely's Wolseley Expedition, Red River expedition in 1870, and later became lieutenant-colonel in the local militia. Walter MacMorris Dack (April 12, 1852 – February 26, 1912) was an Ontario newspaper publisher and political figure. He represented Bruce Centre in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1886 to 1894 as a Liberal member.
