6th Infantry Division (Philippines)
The 6th Infantry Division is an infantry division of the Philippine Army. Popularly known as the Kampilan Division, it is one of the Philippine Army's infantry units in Central Mindanao. History The division was established on October 24, 1987, by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, with Brig. General Gonzalo H. Siongco as the first Commanding General assigned in its headquarters in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. A brigade is a major tactical military unit, military formation that typically comprises three to six battalions plus supporting elements. Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao
Datu Odin Sinsuat, officially the Municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat ( Maguindanaon: ''Inged nu Datu Odin Sinsuat''; Jawi: داتو أودين سينسوات; ), is a municipality and capital of the province of Maguindanao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 116,768 people. The town's name was formerly known as Dinaig. It was changed to Datu Odin Sinsuat in 1994, by virtue of ''Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 29''. The municipality is home to the Awang Domestic Airport that serves the province and Cotabato City. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF; ) is an Islamist group based in Mindanao, Philippines, which sought an autonomous region of the Moro people from the central government. The New People's Army (; abbreviated NPA or BHB) is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP). Maguindanao (; Maguindanaon: ''Dairat nu Magindanaw''; Iranun: ''Perobinsia a Magindanao''; ) was a province of the Philippines located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
