The 67th Oregon Legislative Assembly was the legislative session of the Oregon Legislative Assembly that convened on January 11, 1993, and adjourned August 5 the same year. Oregon Legislative Assembly
The Oregon Legislative Assembly is the state legislature for the U.S. state of Oregon. The Legislative Assembly is bicameral, consisting of an upper and lower house: the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms; and the House of Representatives, with 60 members elected to two-year terms. There are no term limits for either house in the Legislative Assembly. Each Senate district is composed of exactly two House districts: Senate District 1 contains House Districts 1 and 2, SD 2 contains HD 3 and HD 4, and so on. (Maps of Senate districts can be found in the Oregon State Senate article.) Senate districts contain about 127,700 people, and are redrawn every ten years. The legislature is termed as a "citizens' assembly" (meaning that most legislators have other jobs.) Shirley Gold
Shirley Gold (October 2, 1925 – February 27, 1998) was an American politician who served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1981 to 1989. She did not run for re-election in 1988, but instead ran for the Oregon State Senate, where she would serve from 1989 to 1997. She was succeeded in the House by fellow Democrat Bev Stein. In 1995, Gold was described as a "longtime advocate of child care" as the chair of the Senate Revenue Committee that sponsored two bills that intended to improve childcare workers' pay. She did not run for re-election to the Senate in 1996, and was succeeded by fellow Democrat Kate Brown, who would later become Secretary of State and then Governor of Oregon. Oregon's 7th Senate District
District 7 of the Oregon State Senate comprises parts of northern Lane County in the Eugene metropolitan area. It is composed of Oregon House districts 13 and 14. It is currently represented by Democrat James Manning Jr. of Eugene. Election results District boundaries have changed over time. Jeannette Hamby
Jeannette Hamby (March 15, 1933 – January 27, 2012) was an American politician and nurse in Oregon. A native of Minnesota, she worked as an airline attendant, nurse, and educator before entering local politics. A Republican, she served in both chambers of the Oregon Legislature, winning re-election three times to the Oregon State Senate. Early life Hamby was born as Jeannette Carrie Anne Johnson in 1933 in Minnesota. She grew up in Virginia, Minnesota, a mining town in the Mesabi Iron Range. She was born to immigrants from Finland and only learned English after starting school. After high school she attended the University of Minnesota where she graduated in 1956 with a degree in nursing and public health education. Stan Bunn
Stan Bunn (born June 25, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer in the U.S. state of Oregon. Born and raised in Yamhill County, he is part of a political family that includes his brother Jim Bunn who served in Congress. A self-described moderate Republican, Stan served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, including a successful run for the Oregon House of Representatives while in law school in 1972. Later he served as Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction from 1999 to 2003, in a political career spanning four decades. In non-elective offices, he was chairman of the state's ethics commission and on the Oregon Traffic Safety Commission between stints in the legislature.
