66th Oregon Legislative Assembly
The 66th Oregon Legislative Assembly was the legislative session of the Oregon Legislative Assembly that convened on January 14, 1991, and adjourned June 30, 1991. It was held at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Democratic members held majorities over the Republican members in both the Senate (20–10) and the House of Representatives (27–33). It was the first time since the 61st Assembly, as well as the most recent legislature as of , in which either party held a two-thirds supermajority in the State Senate. Senate Jane Cease resigned July 31, 1991 to accept appointment as Administrator of Motor Vehicle Division; Ron Cease was appointed by Multnomah County Commissioners to fill the vacancy on August 22, 1991. Oregon State Capitol
The Oregon State Capitol is the building housing the Oregon Legislative Assembly, state legislature and the offices of the Governor of Oregon, governor, Oregon Secretary of State, secretary of state, and Oregon State Treasurer, treasurer of the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located in the List of capitals in the United States, state capital, Salem, Oregon, Salem. Constructed from 1936 to 1938 and expanded in 1977, the current building is the third to house the Government of Oregon, Oregon state government in Salem. The first two capitols in Salem were destroyed by fire, one in 1855 and the other in 1935. New York architects Trowbridge & Livingston conceived the current structure's Art Deco Stripped Classicism, stripped classical design in association with Francis Keally. Oregon Republican Party
The Oregon Republican Party is the U.S. state, state affiliate of the Republican Party (United States), United States Republican Party in Oregon, headquartered in Salem, Oregon, Salem. The party was established in the Oregon Territory in February 1857 as the "Free State Republican Party of Oregon" and held its first state convention on April 1, 1859, after Oregon achieved statehood. Oregon's 4th Senate District
District 4 of the Oregon State Senate comprises central Lane County, Oregon, Lane County centered around Eugene, Oregon, Eugene and Springfield, Oregon, Springfield.
