The 58th Venice Biennale was an international contemporary art exhibition held between May and November 2019. The Venice Biennale takes place biennially in Venice, Italy. May You Live In Interesting Times
"May you live in interesting times" is an English proverbs, English expression that is claimed to be a translation of a traditional Chinese culture, Chinese curse. The expression is Irony, ironic: "interesting" times are usually times of trouble. Despite being so common in English as to be known as the "Chinese curse", the saying is Apocryphal#Metaphorical usage, apocryphal, and no actual Chinese source has ever been produced. Fake news or information disorder is false or misleading information (misinformation, disinformation, propaganda, and hoaxes) claiming the aesthetics and legitimacy of news. ''Ghana Freedom'' was a Ghanaian art exhibition at the 2019 Venice Biennale, an international contemporary art biennial in which countries represent themselves through self-organizing national pavilions. ''Sun & Sea (Marina)'' is an opera composed by with a libretto by Vaiva Grainytė and directed by , and presented as part of the 2019 Venice Biennale in a project curated by Lucia Pietroiusti. It won the festival's top award, the Golden Lion. The opera premiered in Lithuanian in 2017 at the Lithuanian National Gallery of Art and was translated into English for the Biennale, where it served as Lithuania's national participation. It is set on a faux beach indoors, in which 24 performers partake in commonplace beach activities while singing about the causes and physical effects of climate change in solo arias and group harmonies. Martine Gutierrez also known by moniker Martine (born Martín Gutierrez, April 16, 1989) is an American visual and performance artist. Avery Singer
Avery Singer (born 1987) is an American artist known for creating digitally assisted paintings created through 3D modeling software and computer-controlled airbrushing. Early life and education Singer was born to artists Janet Kusmierski and Greg Singer. She graduated from Cooper Union in 2010. She has since been working out of studios in the Bronx and later in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Work In her work, Singer uses architectural, automation and other modelling software (and an animation specialist) to create the backdrop before then airbrushing layers of images using a computer-controlled printer that was designed to transfer logos on to trucks and aeroplanes. Henry Taylor (artist)
Henry Taylor (born 1958) is an American artist and painter who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his acrylic paintings, mixed media sculptures, and installations. Life Henry Taylor was born the youngest of eight brothers and sisters, which earned him the childhood nickname "Henry VIII" (which he still occasionally calls himself) in Ventura, California, to a father who was employed by the U.S. government as a commercial painter and is listed as a painter on Henry's birth certificate. Raised in Oxnard, California, Henry took art classes at Oxnard College under James Jarvaise, who became an ongoing mentor. His brother, Randy, was a founding member of the Ventura County chapter of the Black Panthers. Nicole Eisenman (born 1965) is a French-born American artist known for her oil paintings and sculptures. Njideka Akunyili Crosby (born 1983) is a Nigerian-born visual artist working in Los Angeles, California. George Condo
George Condo (born 1957) is an American visual artist who works in painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking. He lives and works in New York City. Early life Condo was born in Concord, New Hampshire. He studied art history and music theory at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Throughout his early life he studied guitar and music composition while pursuing his lifelong interest in painting and drawing.
