454 Big Block
454 Big Block was an American metalcore band from Boston. History 454 Big Block was formed by four members of the recently disbanded Boston Hardcore band Wrecking Crew. The last track of 454 Big Block's second (and final) album was a re-recording of the Wrecking Crew song "Why Must They?" Record label Century Media had been in talks with Wrecking Crew before the band changed its sound and reformed as 454 Big Block. Originally vocalist Elgin James decided not to join the new project, but when the band's new vocalist did not last for long, James changed his mind. The band released two albums, one for Century Media Records, the other for Big Wheel Recreation, and toured with Marilyn Manson, Clutch, Deadguy, Bloodlet and Earth Crisis before breaking up. Earth Crisis is an American metallic hardcore band from Syracuse, New York, active from 1989 until 2001, reuniting in 2007. Since 1993, the band's longest-tenured members include vocalist Karl Buechner, lead guitarist Scott Crouse, bassist Ian Edwards, and drummer Dennis Merrick. Isis (sometimes stylized ISIS) was an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997 by guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner, bassist Jeff Caxide, vocalist and electronic instrumentalist Chris Mereschuk and drummer Aaron Harris (drummer), Aaron Harris. After a demo and the EP The Mosquito Control EP, ''Mosquito Control'' were recorded by the original lineup, Mereschuk was replaced by Jay Randall in 1999, who joined the group alongside guitarist Michael Gallagher (Isis guitarist), Michael Gallagher. Bloodhorse (band)
Bloodhorse is an American post-metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, United States, that formed late 2005. In 2007 they signed with Translation Loss Records, releasing their debut record "EP" in July of the same year. Biography Bloodhorse was formed in late 2005 by bassist Matt Woods, guitarist Adam Wentworth, and drummer Alex Garcia-Rivera in Boston, Massachusetts. All three members had previously played together in the hardcore punk band Bars. The three found a musical common ground of Deep Purple and The Who at their first practices. The first four songs the band wrote were quickly recorded by the band in their practice space and self-released as a CD demo titled "Black Lung Rising" in April 2006. American Nightmare (briefly known as Give Up the Ghost) is an American hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. They have released three albums, one EP and a compilation of earlier released material under the name American Nightmare. Good Clean Fun is a hardcore punk band from Washington, D.C. who took their band name from the Descendents song of the same name. The band gained a particular internet following after they released "The MySpace Song", a spoof ballad about a girl who leaves her boyfriend for a person she met on Myspace. History Formed in 1997, the band used self-irony when spreading their message of veganism, straight edge, feminism and optimism. Their main influence is New York straight edge group Gorilla Biscuits. Friends Stand United (FSU) began as an anti-fascist, anti-racist, and anti-drug hardcore crew. Straight edge (sometimes abbreviated as sXe or signified by XXX or simply X) is a subculture of hardcore punk whose adherents refrain from using alcohol, tobacco, and other recreational drugs in reaction to the punk subculture's excesses. Some adherents refrain from engaging in promiscuous or casual sex, follow a vegetarian or vegan diet and do not consume caffeine or prescription drugs. Bloodlet are an American metalcore band from Orlando, Florida that formed in 1992. Their style of music (which has sometimes been dubbed as "evilcore" by critics) features elements of metalcore and sludge metal, which has been noted for influencing the 1990s underground hardcore scene.
