12th Littoral Logistics Battalion (12th LLB), formerly known as Combat Logistics Battalion 12 and previously 9th Motor Transport Battalion, 3d Transportation Support Battalion, and 3d Transportation Battalion, is a multi-functional logistics unit of the United States Marine Corps and is headquartered at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The unit falls under the command of 12th Marine Littoral Regiment, 3d Marine Division. Mission 12th Littoral Logistics Battalion provides tactical-level logistics to the 12th Marine Littoral Regiment and area support to expeditionary advanced bases to enable Fleet Marine Force, bilateral, and joint operations across the competition continuum. The 12th Marine Littoral Regiment is a Littoral regiment of the United States Marine Corps based at Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler, Camp Smedley Butler, Okinawa Island, Okinawa, Japan. The Vietnam Service Medal was a military award of the United States Armed Forces established on 8 July 1965 by order of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Force Design 2030, also known as FD2030, is an ongoing force restructuring plan by the United States Marine Corps to reshape its combat power for future near-peer adversary conflicts that was introduced in March 2020 by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General David H. Berger. In October 2023 the program was renamed Force Design, removing the "2030." According to the Force Design documents, is designed to prepare the Marine Corps for a naval war against China. The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWOT-SM) is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which was created through Executive Order 13289 on 12 March 2003, by President George W. Bush. The medal recognizes those military service members who have supported operations to counter terrorism in the War on Terror from 11 September 2001, to a date yet to be determined.
