37th Marine Brigade (Ukraine)
The 37th Separate Marine Brigade ( uk, 37-ма окрема бригада морської піхоти, translit=37-ma okrema bryhada morsʹkoyi pikhoty; 37 ОБрМП, unit number A0216), is a marine infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The brigade was part of the Ukrainian Navy until 23 May 2023. History The brigade was formed on January 12, 2023 as part of an expansion to the Ukrainian Naval Infantry which saw the creation of four other new marine brigades. The 37th was established from a battalion of the 79th Air Assault Brigade (Ukraine), 79th Air Assault Brigade and veteran officers from the 36th Marine Brigade. The unit has been outfitted with a mix of both new western supplied equipment, and old soviet stockpiles. This includes Canadian Roshel Senators, British Cougar (MRAP), Mastiffs French AMX-10 RCs and old soviet towed artillery and small arms. The combatants of the war in Donbas include foreign and domestic forces. MT-12 Rapira
2A19 or T-12 was a revolutionary Soviet 100-mm anti-tank gun. It was the first (anti-) tank gun to adopt a smoothbore barrel, and to introduce modern armor piercing shot, like the APFSDS. It uses long projectiles that are more powerful than its caliber suggests. The T-12 served as the primary towed anti-tank artillery in the Soviet and Bulgarian armies from the early 1960s to the late 1980s. D30 Howitzer
The 122-mm howitzer D-30 (GRAU index 2A18) is a Soviet howitzer that first entered service in 1960. It is a robust piece that focuses on the essential features of a towed field gun suitable for all conditions. The D-30 has a maximum range of 15.4 kilometers, or over 21 km using rocket-assisted projectile ammunition. With its striking three-leg mounting, the D-30 can be rapidly traversed through 360 degrees. The 2S1 ''Gvozdika'' (russian: link=no, 2С1 «Гвоздика», " Carnation") is a Soviet self-propelled howitzer based on the MT-LBu multi-purpose chassis, mounting a 122 mm 2A18 howitzer. "2S1" is its GRAU designation. An alternative Russian designation is SAU-122 but in the Russian Army it is commonly known as ''Gvozdika''. The 2S1 is fully amphibious with very little preparation, and once afloat is propelled by its tracks. A variety of track widths are available to allow the 2S1 to operate in snow or swamp conditions. M109 Howitzer
The M109 is an American 155 mm turreted self-propelled howitzer, first introduced in the early 1960s to replace the M44. It has been upgraded a number of times, most recently to the M109A7. The M109 family is the most common Western indirect-fire support weapon of maneuver brigades of armored and mechanized infantry divisions. The M109 has a crew of four: the section chief/commander, the driver, the gunner, and the ammunition handler/loader. The chief or gunner aims the cannon left or right (deflection) and up and down (quadrant). The British Army replaced its M109s with the AS-90.
