35th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
The 35th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival took place from 5 to 15 July 2000. The Crystal Globe was won by '' Me You Them'', a Brazilian drama film directed by Andrucha Waddington. The second prize, the Special Jury Prize was won ex aequo by '' The Big Animal'', a Polish comedy-drama film directed by Jerzy Stuhr, and by ''Peppermint Candy'', a South Korean drama film directed by Lee Chang-dong. Iranian film director, screenwriter, poet, photographer and film producer Abbas Kiarostami was the president of the jury. Friðrik Þór Friðriksson (born 12 May 1954; pronounced ), sometimes credited as Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, is an Icelandic film director and producer. Biography Fridriksson started his film making career with experimental films and documentaries in the early 1980s. In 1987, he founded The Icelandic Film Corporation that became Iceland's most important film production company. The company produces his films and works with other Icelandic directors as well as producers. ''Angels of the Universe'' (Icelandic: ''Englar alheimsins'' ()) is a 2000 Icelandic film directed and produced by Friðrik Þór Friðriksson. The leading role is played by Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, who was nominated for the European Film Awards for best acting. Bernard Rapp (17 February 1945 – 17 August 2006) was a French film director and television news presenter. Rapp was born in Paris. After graduating from university, he worked as a freelance journalist. In 1976, he joined Antenne 2 (now France 2) as their international correspondent, working later as their London correspondent from 1981 to 1983. Rapp was Antenne 2's news anchor from 1983 to 1987. He created a minor stir on 18 May 1986 when he became the first French newscaster to appear on camera without a tie. Rapp was a two-time winner of the ''7 d'Or'' award (Best TV Newscaster, 1987 and Best Journalist or Reporter, 1988). After leaving the news desk, Rapp, hosted a series of shows on the cultural, culinary, and literary arts. After a long career in television, Rapp entered the world of cinema in 1996. ''Aberdeen'' is a 2000 Norwegian-British Drama (film and television), drama film directed by Hans Petter Moland and starring Stellan Skarsgård, Lena Headey and Charlotte Rampling. Synopsis Lawyer Kaisa Heller, just promoted, has no apparent emotional attachments, preferring nameless encounters with men. She is surprised to receive a call from Helen, her dying mother, with a final request to bring Kaisa's estranged father Tomas to see her at the hospital. Regina Maria Barreto Casé OMC (born 25 February 1954) is a Brazilian actress, screenwriter, director, producer, and television presenter.
