347 Series
The ''347 Series'' or ''347 Suite'' is a series of etchings by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso executed between March 16 and October 8 1968. The work was Picasso's largest in terms of the number of individual prints in the series; and his penultimate large etching series before the ''156 Series'' of 1969-1972. It was dedicated to his friend Jamie Sabartes. No name was given by Picasso to the series. The 347 series was first displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago and Paris's Galerie Louise Leris in 1970. Picasso was assisted by the Parisian printers Aldo and Piero Crommelynck, who had established an etching workshop near Picasso's Mougins residence. Aldo Crommelynck
Aldo Crommelynck (26 December 1931 – 22 December 2008) was a Belgian master printmaker who made intaglio (printmaking), intaglio prints in collaboration with many important European and American artists of the 20th century. At the time of his death, ''The Guardian'' termed Crommelynck the 'pre-eminent' and 'the most celebrated printmaker of the second half of the 20th century.' Family Crommelinck was born in Monaco. His father was the Belgium, Belgian playwright Fernand Crommelynck (1886–1970) and his mother was Anne Marie Le Tellier (1886–1970). They had four sons: Jean, Aldo, Piero (1934–2001), and Milan. The National Museum (, officially the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design) is a museum in Oslo, Norway which holds the Norwegian state's public collection of art, architecture, and design objects. The Museu Picasso (, "Picasso Museum") is an art museum in Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It houses an extensive collection of artworks by the twentieth-century Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, with a total of 4251 of his works.
