33rd Ohio Infantry
The 33rd Ohio Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Service The 33rd Ohio Infantry Regiment was organized at Portsmouth, Ohio, from August 5 through September 13, 1861. It was mustered in for three years service under the command of Colonel Joshua Woodrow Sill. Companies were recruited from Southern Ohio. Infantry
Infantry, or infantryman are a type of soldier who specialize in ground combat, typically fighting dismounted. 34th Ohio Infantry Regiment
The 34th Ohio Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It primarily served in the Eastern Theater in what is now West Virginia and in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley region. They are well known for wearing early in the war an americanized zouave uniform which consisted of: A dark blue jacket with red trimming, a pair of sky blue baggy trousers with two stripes of red tape going down vertically, a pair of tan gaiters, and a red Ottoman styled fez with a blue tassel. The uniform lasted at least until 1863 based on photographic evidence. The 32nd Ohio Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Army Of The Ohio
The Army of the Ohio was the name of two Union Army, Union armies in the American Civil War. The first army became the Army of the Cumberland and the second army was created in 1863. History 1st Army of the Ohio General Orders No. 97 appointed Major general (United States), Maj. Gen. Don Carlos Buell to command the Department of the Ohio. All the forces of the department were then organized into the Army of the Ohio, with Buell in command. Early in 1862, the army Battle of Mill Springs, fought its first battle at Mill Springs, although only the 1st Division, commanded by Brigadier general (United States), Brig. Gen. George H. Thomas, was engaged. The whole army marched to reinforce Ulysses S. Grant, Grant's Army of the Tennessee at the Battle of Shiloh. The Army of the Cumberland was one of the principal Union armies in the Western Theater during the American Civil War. It was originally known as the Army of the Ohio. History The origin of the Army of the Cumberland dates back to the creation of the Army of the Ohio in November 1861, under the command of Brig. Gen. Robert Anderson. The army fought under the name Army of the Ohio until Maj. Gen. William S.
