31 Balboa is a trolleybus line operated by the San Francisco Municipal Railway. It is one of several routes operating between the Financial District and the Richmond District. Route description The outbound terminal is located at Cabrillo and La Playa, shared with the 5 Fulton. It runs inbound on Cabrillo to 45th Avenue where it runs a block north to Balboa Street. East of Arguello Boulevard the route continues on Turk Boulevard. It turns at Divisadero to run another block north on Eddy. The line splits between Larkin and Mason, with inbound buses continuing on Eddy while outbound buses run on Turk Street. The Market Street Railway Company was a commercial streetcar and bus operator in San Francisco. The company was named after the famous Market Street of that city, which formed the core of its transportation network. Over the years, the company was also known as the Market Street Railroad Company, the Market Street Cable Railway Company and the United Railroads of San Francisco. Once the largest transit operator in the city, the company folded in 1944 and its assets and services were acquired by the city-owned San Francisco Municipal Railway.
