316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)
The 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) (ESC) is one of six general officer sustainment commands in the Army Reserve. It has command and control of more than 10,000 Army Reserve Soldiers throughout the northeastern United States. The ESC is a peacetime subordinate to the 377th Theater Sustainment Command. History The original 316th Logistical Command was constituted on 17 November 1950 in the Organized Reserve Corps and activated on 1 December 1950 at Knoxville, Tenn. The 316th Logistical Command was redesignated on 9 July 1952 in the Army Reserve and again on 30 November 1960 as Headquarters Detachment, 316th Logistical Command. The unit was deactivated in 1968 at Knoxville. On 17 January 2006, the command was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and was activated on 16 September 2007 at Coraopolis, Pa. 77th Sustainment Brigade
The 77th Sustainment Brigade is a unit of the United States Army that inherited the lineage of the 77th Infantry Division ("Statue of Liberty"), which served in World War I and World War II. Its headquarters has been at Fort Dix, New Jersey, since its predecessor command, the 77th Regional Readiness Command, was disestablished in 2008 from Fort Totten in Bayside, Queens, New York. Soldiers from the 77th have served in most major conflicts and contingency operations involving the US since World War II. The division is nicknamed the "Statue of Liberty Division"; the shoulder patch bears the Statue of Liberty in gold on a blue isosceles-trapezoid shape. U.S. Marines on Guam nicknamed them the "77th Marine Division". Westover Air Reserve Base
Westover Air Reserve Base is an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) installation located in the Massachusetts communities of Chicopee and Ludlow, near the city of Springfield, Massachusetts. Established at the outset of World War II, today Westover is the largest Air Force Reserve base in the United States, home to approximately 5,500 military and civilian personnel, and covering 2,500 acres (10 km²). Until 2011, it was a backup landing site for the NASA Space Shuttle and in the past few years has expanded to include a growing civilian access airport ( Westover Metropolitan Airport) sharing Westover's military-maintained runways. Butler, Pennsylvania
Butler is a city in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States, and its county seat. It is north of Pittsburgh and part of the Greater Pittsburgh region. Fort Totten is a former active United States Army installation in the New York City borough of Queens. It is located on the north shore of Long Island. Fort Totten is at the head of Little Neck Bay, where the East River widens to become Long Island Sound. While the U.S. Army Reserve continues to maintain a presence at the fort, the property is now owned by the City of New York. 377th Theater Sustainment Command (United States)
The 12th Port of Embarkation, later designated 377th Theater Sustainment Command, was constituted on 2 July 1942 and was activated 5 July 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The unit was converted, reorganized, and redesignated 7 November 1942 as the 12th Port. The unit was inactivated 4 January 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey and later redesignated 3 November 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, as the 377th Transportation Major Port. On 11 September 1950 the 377th was called to Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Later, the unit moved to Fort Eustis, Virginia and stayed on active Federal Service until 10 October 1952. From 1953 until 1963, the 377th remained in a Reserve status and experienced several changes in unit designation. The United States Army Reserve (USAR) is a reserve force of the United States Army. Together, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard constitute the Army element of the reserve components of the United States Armed Forces.
