Nippon Budokan
The , often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics. The Budokan was a popular venue for Japanese professional wrestling for a time, and it has hosted numerous other sporting events, such as the 1967 Women's Volleyball World Championship. Most recently, the arena hosted the Olympic debut of karate in the 2020 Summer Olympics, as well as the judo competition at both the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Paralympics. While its primary purpose is to host martial arts contests, the arena has gained additional fame as one of the world's most outstanding musical performance venues. Japan Record Award
is a major music awards show, held annually in Japan that recognizes outstanding achievements in the Japan Composer's Association. Established in 1959, the Japan Record Awards are one of the oldest and most prestigious music awards in the country. Until 2005, the show aired on New Year's Eve, but has since aired every December 30 on TBS Japan at 6:30 pm JST and is hosted by many announcers. was a Japanese pop music idol group named after the character Hikaru Genji of ''The Tale of Genji''. They were managed by Japanese talent agency Johnny & Associates from 1987 to 1995. Chiyoko Shimakura
(30 March 1938 – 8 November 2013) was an ''Enka'' singer and TV presenter in Japan. She was considered "the Goddess of Enka". Career Chiyoko was born in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, Japan. In 1954, Chiyoko won the 1st prize of the Columbia Music Entertainment singers competition. In 1955, she made her recording début with the single "Konoyo no Hana". She was an Enka singer who appeared in NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen, starring 35 times, including 30 consecutive years straight. However, she forgot her song lyrics in 1996. She participated again in the Kōhaku in 2004. Death After a long battle with liver cancer, she died, at age 75, on 8 November 2013. Otokogumi
was a Japanese pop music idol group managed by Japanese talent agency Johnny & Associates from 1988 to 1993. They were the first talents from the agency, who would debut not only as idols but as musicians who could play on music instruments. In 2022, they announced resume of their music activities for the period of one year. Kyosuke Himuro
is a former Japanese musician and singer-songwriter. He was the lead vocalist of the rock band Boøwy from 1981 to 1988. After the band disbanded, he went on to have a successful solo career, becoming one of Japan's best-selling artists, with 16.25 million sales. In 2003, HMV ranked Himuro at No. 76 on their list of the 100 most important Japanese pop acts. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California. ''Flowers for Algernon'' is the first solo album by Japanese singer Kyosuke Himuro. The Japanese rock group Boøwy, to which he once belonged, disbanded and this album was released as his solo debut five months later. The album reached number one on Oricon Albums Chart and stayed on the chart for 25 weeks.
