29th Satellite Awards
The 29th Satellite Awards is an award ceremony honoring the year's outstanding performers, films and television shows, presented by the International Press Academy. The nominations were announced on December 16, 2024. The winners were announced on January 26, 2025. However, the awards presentation was postponed due to the January 2025 Southern California wildfires, January Southern California wildfires; the new date was later revealed to be February 21, 2025. Brady Corbet's epic period drama ''The Brutalist'' led the film nominations with ten, followed by ''Dune: Part Two'' with nine, while ''Conclave (film), Conclave'' and ''Emilia Pérez'' received eight nominations each. Simon Hayes is a British sound engineer. Hayes won an Academy Award for Best Sound at the 85th Academy Awards for his work on ''Les Misérables''. He won a BAFTA for Best Sound for the same film. The Auteur Award is an honorary Satellite Award bestowed by the International Press Academy to recognize the "individual voices of filmmakers and their personal impact on the industry." It was first presented on December 17, 2005 at the 10th Annual Satellite Awards ceremony to George Clooney. The trophy awarded to the honorees resembles the normal Satellite Award but is designated for Special Achievement, with the recipient's name and year engraved on the base.
