History 25th DIVARTY (Division Artillery) activated 1 October 1941 on Schofield Barrack, HI. 25th DIVARTY initially consisted of 3 direct support battalions from the 8th Field Artillery Regiment (8th, 64th, and 89th battalions), the 90th General Support Battalion. The 25th DIVARTY first entered combat two months after activation on 7 December 1941, when the Imperial Forces of Japan conducted a surprise attack on US military installations on Oahu, HI. 25th DIVARTY continued on active status during World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Global War on Terror before deactivation in 2005. The 25th Infantry Division (nicknamed "Tropic Lightning") is a United States Army division based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. The division, which was activated on 1 October 1941 in Hawaii, conducts military operations primarily in the Asia-Pacific region. Its present deployment is composed of light infantry and aviation units. Tropic Lightning soldiers regularly train with other U.S. military branches to practice and maintain joint operations capabilities. The climate and terrain of the Pacific region demands Tropic Lightning soldiers be able to operate in physically demanding and harsh environments. 2nd Tank Division (Imperial Japanese Army)
The was one of four armored divisions of the Imperial Japanese Army in World War II. History The 2nd Tank Division was raised in Manchukuo on June 24, 1942. Stationed in Mudanjiang in northeastern Manchukuo, it was tasked primarily with border patrol of Manchukuo's eastern frontier with the Soviet Union under the overall command of the Japanese First Area Army. In February 1944, the 11th Tank Regiment was sent to the Kuriles. In the following month, the Recon Unit was renamed the 27th Tank Regiment and with the AA unit, sent to China. As the situation in the Pacific War against the Allies deteriorated for Japan, in early August 1944 the remaining units of the 2nd Tank Division were reassigned to the Japanese Fourteenth Area Army, and sent to the Philippines, where it was deployed on the main island of Luzon.
