The 22nd Legislative Assembly of Quebec was the Quebec, Canada provincial legislature that existed from August 8, 1944, to July 28, 1948. The Union Nationale led by Maurice Duplessis returned to power after defeating the Quebec Liberal Party led by Adélard Godbout who defeated the Union Nationale in the 1939 elections. It was the first of four consecutive terms by the UN until 1960. Bonaventure (provincial Electoral District)
Bonaventure is a provincial electoral district in the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is located on the southern shore of the Gaspé Peninsula and encompasses several towns along the Baie des Chaleurs and the New Brunswick border. It notably includes the municipalities of Chandler, Carleton-sur-Mer, New Richmond, Paspébiac, Maria and Bonaventure. Armand Sylvestre (Quebec MLA)
Armand Sylvestre (October 16, 1910 – November 4, 1980) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Quebec. He represented Berthier in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1944 to 1948 as a Liberal. Born in Saint-Cuthbert, Quebec, the son of Camille Sylvestre and Marie-Louise Paquette, Sylvestre was educated in Saint-Cuthbert, at the Séminaire de Joliette, the Collège de Berthierville and the Université de Montréal. He was called to the Quebec bar in 1937 and set up practice in Berthierville. Sylvestre was solicitor for the Liquor Commission in Joliette district from 1939 to 1944 and managing director of the ''Courrier de Berthier'' from 1945 to 1948. In 1941, he married Mariette Daviault. He was elected in the 1944 Quebec general election, but was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1948, and again in 1952. Bellechasse is a provincial electoral riding in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes a section of the city of Lévis as well as Saint-Henri, Saint-Anselme, Lac-Etchemin, Sainte-Claire, Beaumont, Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse, Saint-Raphaël and Saint-Gervais. Valmore Bienvenue
Valmore Bienvenue KC (July 12, 1894 – February 19, 1952) was a lawyer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Bellechasse in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1939 to 1948 as a Liberal. Bienvenue was Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in 1942. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of Hormisdas Bienvenue and Angéline Beaupré. Bienvenue was educated at the Collège Sacré-Coeur in Saint-Hyacinthe, at the Séminaire Saint-Charles Borromée and the Université Laval. He was called to the Quebec bar in 1917 and set up practice in Quebec City. Bienvenue practised in partnership with Élisée Thériault, Oscar Drouin, Henri-Paul Drouin and Jean Lesage. He was named King's Counsel in 1927. Bienvenue served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Hunting and Fishing from 1942 to 1944. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1948. Beauharnois is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably include the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was created in 2001 from parts of Beauharnois-Huntingdon, Châteauguay and Salaberry-Soulanges. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. An earlier version of the Beauharnois electoral district had been created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its last election was in 1985. It disappeared in the 1989 election and its successor electoral district was Beauharnois-Huntingdon.
