2027 Summer World University Games
The 2027 FISU Summer World University Games, officially as the XXXIII Summer World University Games and also known as Chungcheong 2027, is a multi-sport event scheduled from 1 to 12 August 2027 in the cities of the historical Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The region was confirmed as the host for the games on 12 November 2022. This will be the third time in the history that the event will be held in South Korea as the most recent time was the 2015 Summer Universiade held in Gwangju. Bidding process Chungcheong Region and North Carolina (United States) were the candidates in the running to host the 2027 edition. Chungcheong was selected on 12 November 2022 at the FISU executive committee in Brussels, Belgium. Chungcheong Province
Chungcheong Province (; ) was one of the Eight Provinces (Korea), eight provinces of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty. Chungcheong was located in the southwest of Korea. The provincial capital was located at Gongju, which had been the capital of the kingdom of Baekje from 475 to 538. 2019 Summer Universiade
The 2019 Summer Universiade (), officially known as the XXX Summer Universiade () and also known as Naples 2019, or Napoli 2019, was held in Naples, Italy, between 3 and 14 July 2019. It was initially scheduled for Brasília, Brazil in July 2019. However, on 23 December 2014, it was confirmed that Brasília had withdrawn from hosting the event, citing financial problems. International University Sports Federation decided to reopen the bidding process after the withdrawal. The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The former name is a Blend word, portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade was to be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. Para taekwondo is an adaptation of taekwondo for disabled sportspeople. The sport's main governing body is World Taekwondo (WT). The 2021 Summer World University Games ( zh, , s=2021年夏季世界大学生运动会, labels=no), officially known as the XXXI Summer World University Games and also known as Chengdu 2021, was a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), held from 28 July to 8 August 2023 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It was the fourth time the Games was hosted in China. This is the first time the Games was referred to as the "Summer World University Games" rather than the "Summer FISU World University Games, Universiade."
